Soviet

New member
I just got a dhp today, I have got the framework 1.1 program and the mdac program but I still cant get connection to the tuner wire/box from my laptop which is a window 7 32 bit to the car.

The computer chimes after hooking up the usb connector converter which is hook to the tuner but dosen't state it is connected.

my next step is geting a different usb converter maybe a keyspan

any more advice

miker....something just went threw the same thing. Not sure what he had to do, but he did get it working with 7.

Dhp was never really meant to run on Windows 7, do you have something that has xp you can use?

Keyspan + Windows 7 drivers for it + DHP program always run as administrator (or UAC turned off, your choice) = working fine every time.

Since you dont have a keyspan, make sure you have/do the others. If that doesnt work, the usb/serial adapter either is not working to hot in Windows 7 or just is not going to cut it either way.

I got the coverter to lite up by installing a driver made for vista but the rain is keeping me from testing it on my car so I will update the thread if it stops raining

Where did you get the vista driver? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have the same problem once I get mine. I'm also running W7 on my laptop.

I have a belkin connector, that came with the tuner.
I went to the belkin site then to support and after a few pages,I found a download page that u had choose ur item's serial #.
Then it gave me a list of free programs.
just as updateing the computer accepted the dhp i think but unsure on where to find the codes to start a read

I've got a Belkin connector on mine too, and once you download the drivers, it should work.

The keyspan craze.....lol Good old Mike N on the other forum probably made a done of money off that scam.

realistically you shouldn't need to install the drivers, win7 automatically gets those. for all programs meant for another system right click and run as admin, or get a WinXP emulator downloaded on the win7. then run the program from the winxp emulator..

I admit, it's pretty good, but I had to fiddle with the setting just to get my HPT to run on the 64 bit system. Ended up having to download a program so that I could actually edit they setup.exe file to NOT look for a specific version of the .net 4 framework.......or something along those lines.

It was one of those things that started in the evening, and ended up waaay in the night before a friend helped me find what I was needing. :th_laugh-lol2:

yeah i had to do that for my cousins before he fried the system... it was a pain. but atleast now i know for when/if i decide to get one.. i do need a new tune tho..

Just as a note i got the conector to lite up so now i need to know where find the codes for the next step [they r listed above]

I'm not sure what you're meaning by codes?
You'll have to have the dhp connected to the com port on the car and then to the computer to register the interface. Then you'll need to click on the PCM Flash/Read PCM tab and download your .bin file for your tune.

Not a craze, owned several adapters such as the Belkin ones before I even owned a PowrTuner. Some fo the pricier Belkins are OK. But by testing with other more demanding serial devices I can tell you that Keyspan is about as good as it gets short of a real serial port. Especially further back with older versions of Windows. Drivers by certain other vendors were real POS and incompatible with certain other components not seen in every computer.

Still, given drives and a working adapter, PowrTuner should run just as well or as bad in Windows 7 as it would in XP.

^^
I'm not saying that the performance aspect of the keyspan isn't superior....sorry if it looked like that. It was just that when Charles started selling the Powrtuner, he and Mike had struck a deal on the CGP store to exclusively recommend a keyspan adapter for like $30 in order to not void your warranty. Went so far as to say that, I know, and further to say you won't get connectivity with any other, you could fry something. Which is completely false. It was completely ridiculous. I got my adapter at best buy and I've never had an issue with it. The only problem is/was Vista, and that was mainly people had problems with the actual DHP program itself with most of the versions wouldn't work with Vista. Now with me, I use the DHP exclusively on my desktop now to program mail tunes, my laptop has Win 7 64 bit, and even with HPT it was a chore to get it installed since the base program hasn't been updated since I think 2009.

I guess what I'm getting at, was it was yet another way for people to make extra money providing false information 5-6 years ago, when someone could have went and got their own serial adapter and not have to wait 1-2 weeks to use their product.

Vista is terrible with dhp. I switched to xp. My keyspan fried, i bought one from radio shack, works awesome.

Well while fight on which connector is beter, I got it read but it gave me a error 73 after the reading was complete
by the way error 73 =
