hey guys i wanna drain my coolant and make sure all the dexcool is out is there a good way to make sure and where can i drain most of it from? i wanna switch to the green stuff.....

No, really...flush it twice. Use "store brand" stuff the first time - then flush again and refill with the good green.

Make sure you know what you're getting, there are green coolants out there that are the same as dex-cool. Color doesn't mean much anymore.
 
the all makes, all models stuff is yellow from what I have seen. The main thing that you want to do is to make sure you get all of the dex cool out completely and not to mix it with any other coolant. I just changed over to the green last weekend. Personally I went with peak long life green anti-freeze(5yr-150,000 mile) I also used a Peak flush cleaner with mine. First step I had to drain as much of the original coolant as I could. Then you have to fill up the rad with water(I let the car run and kept filling up rad with water to try and get as much coolant flushed through as possible) and get it up to running temp for ten or fifteen minutes. Then you drain it again as best you can. Then you put in the cleaner and fill it back up with water and run it at normal engine temps for 4-6 hrs. Then you have to drain that, then go through the rinse with just water again, then finally completely drain and put in the new anti-freeze. Worked well for me and seemed to clean some junk out of the coolant lines, so I am happy.........
 


The All Makes/All Models stuff is basically Dex-Cool, as is the Peak Long-Life. As I said, color doesn't mean much anymore.

There's nothing wrong with Dex as long as you keep it full, bleed all of the air from the system, and don't let it go forever.
 
i used old school green coolant in my car. the stuff we all used in the 80s and 90s on our old cars. i like it much more, my car runs a lot more consistent with cooling.
 
i just had my coolant flushed.. i was traveling on vacation and when we hit traffic in atlanta my temps soared... checked the rad cap later and it was all gunk.. i didnt have the time or patience to flush it on vacation and put the green in like bio is talkin about that i wanted to so i took it to a service station and they have to put dex back in... but like scimma said.. as long as you monitor it and keep an eye on it, everything works great.. hell mine barely goes about the half way marker anymore. mine was so bad the place flushed it twice because of all the gunk...

Thats what I thought I was buying when I bought the green Peak. I did not see any other green stuff around at any local stores here.....
 
Peak does make a conventional coolant. More often than not, it's the only conventional I see in most stores, everyone is going towards the "All Makes/All Models" stuff. Even G-05 isn't easy to find, and it's what Ford and Chrysler recommend in their newer cars (and what I run).
