I could kinda see the first ones you showed when I looked under. Do you just replace those? And is it something I could tackle or will a grinder or such be involved? I may look better tonight and pick some up if needed. Will advance carry those or are they dealer?
 
parts store should have them in the muffler repair section, after your up on the ramps, get under and look above the muffler, you will see a bracket thats bolted to the inside of the bumper, it has 2 hooks that the rubber hangers loop onto, and then to the back of the muffler.

now if you remove them 2 bolts for the hanger bracket, its much easier to change the hangers with this bracket off.

you can also bend the bracket hanger bar if need be to even the muffler out as well.

and iirc you only need to take one of them bolts out and just loosen the other one, on the bracket, one bolt hole is a hole, the other side is a hook that sits on the bolt. take a close look so you dont have to remove both bolts all the way.

On the hangars are rubber do-hickies that after a while can stretch out. You may need new ones...or better ones to really pull them up so they sit in the cutouts like you want.

But there are also these further up on some models, I've debated on using these on the backs to really pull them up as mine sag still after getting new ones. :(

Just get stiffer ones. i got them for my 96 and they worked very well. a little more money but well worth it if you want them in the cut out.
 
If your looking for a quick fix you can put hose clamps over the hanger and tighten it up until it's where you want it.
 


That's a good idea too. I'll climb under there tonight and get some pictures so I know what I'm looking at. Then you guys can tell me what to get, lol. I don't mind putting it on ramps again and changing the insulators if that's what's needed. I gotta change rear inlays too, so it will work out. Just not when its 100*....
 
I spray them with pb and use a big screw driver.

They also make an exhaust hanger tool to pop them off but haven't bought one yet ;)

I lifted the pipe up and it took it right where I wanted it, so I am liking the idea that new insulators will correct this.

I'm thinking I'll go with the replacements that look like the current ones?

Also, does the one back by where the exhaust "Y"s need replaced too?
I will have the car backed up on ramps most likely so I have room to work, so I don't think it would be a big deal. Unless it's a pita by yourself.

soapy water like was suggest, or some kinda spray lube.
not really hard to do, could even do it without getting car up depending on clearance, just make sure the car is cold lol
 
Yeah, cold would be a good idea lol. It probably won't happen until at least next weekend since I need to drive it both days this weekend and its supposed to be hot.
I was thinking #2 as well. To me it looks shorter which makes me think holding it tighter, but idk.
 
I know, I'm not that blonde. lol I've seen how hot exhaust parts get.

All jokes aside, I am proud of myself for doing things on my own. It makes me feel good that I know what things are called and can kinda get my way around the car and know what I'm talking about. And it's saving me money too :)
 


I replaced all of my rubber hangers as they were sagging and causing my exhuat to hit the sway bar. Even after changing them all out, I still used some hose clamps to raise the tips right where I wanted them. I got my replacements from rock auto. But the tips look good.
