• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Danielle's 99 GT :)

check your wires first, if you see any bare wire at the plug or along the wires at all, cracks or missing insulation, it needs to be changed. when air hits the wires, they turn brown, not nice and shiny anymore, its called dry wire, the wires no longer carry signal properly and throws the code for maf or what ever sensor you have a code for, wire check is free, and a brand new pig tail goes for under 15 shipped from ebay.

should you need to these guys were great, i emailed them and they got back to me with in a hour, had them make me a pig tail, they sell V8 stuff mostly but can make any sensor plug for any GM car or truck, color matched wires too. shipping was within a week too.

GM Engine Connector Pigtails, Extensions o2 sensor,IAT,etc items in Auto Wiring Solutions store on eBay!

Dan, still have the maf?

I looked at wires and they look ok to me. All still colored and wrapped up. I took some pictures, ill post them in a bit when I get on laptop.

I didn't tear any of the corrugated stuff or electrical tape off, but of the things visible - it all looked ok to me.

corrugated stuff <<<<<i like that one lol its called wire loom. from the pics they do look ok. id take the plug off flip it over and bend the wires back so to see the very ends where they go into the plug. you can un tape the ends of the wire loom, and the loom has a split on one side, the wire can be pulled right out of it to get a better look.

in the end it could just be the maf has taken a turn for the worst and is now in a better place......"RIP" MAF, you will be missed.

Ok, went out and unplugged the sensor and flipped it over.

This is what you get: (I was having a really hard time getting the camera to focus)

whats that mark on the red and black wires, is that black marks from where they lay on the plug or is that messed up some. slide a knife or your nail over it to see if its smooth, or dented in.

red wire dont look to good.

the weather pac seal matches your nails lol

Your lucky the car is parked close to the house...But it's dark now, so this was the last trip out there tonight.

The red wire is all one color, flash makes it look funny. And there doesn't appear to be any mark or anything. I couldn't feel all the way down and didn't wanna pull the wire out. But yeah, no grooves.

I have the maf still if you wanna swap it out and see if it makes your car run better. We could do that sway bar too.

Shhhhh....you weren't supposed to see that dirt. It's an optical allusion. That's really probably the dirtiest part under the hood.
They don't look that bad to the naked eye, flash made all that dirt appear ten times worse.
Ok, done with excuses. I'll pick up some electrical connector cleaner and spray it down with purple power, again.

Cleaner than my bay.... Mine was clean til the motor came apart because of the guy wearing the cape.... LOL Replace that MAF and see what happens.

The uim is easy to replace, you'll need to use a torque wrench when you put the bolts back on though.

On the MAF issue, did you take the maf out of the tb when you cleaned it? Our mafs don't seem to like getting cleaned with anything but maf cleaner so its possible that it got fried. If you unplug the maf does that engine change?

Well, I couldn't take it out cuz I couldn't find a security bit. So yeah, it did get wet a bit.
Code stayed off till monday, stayed on until yesterday evening when I left work. And this morning it came back on. Haven't had it scanned since Friday but I'm assuming its still maf code.
Car seems to still be running fine. Rpms will surge a tiny bit at times when stopped. Didn't do it yesterday that I remember. I know it did Tuesday one time.

Dan is going to help with sway bar and were going to swap his donor car maf into it and see what happens. The wires looked ok I think, so besides the maf itself, Idk what else it could be?

I did have a oiled filter on before I got the dry flow. It was on for maybe 6 months and has been off for 2 months I think. Code just happened Friday.
Could that have finally affected it enough?

It looks nice. I wish mine was a 2door

Thanks! I love the 2drs! Altho, the car and I are in a love-hate relationship right now.

Harbor Freight has those security torx tools, 4 or 5 sizes in a folding pocket knife style. $6 or so.

I read that somewhere someone posted they did. Dad may have some laying around, I just didn't wanna wake him up at 5am to ask, lol.
If he doesn't, next time we make a trip to HF, I'll pick a set up.
