Custom Intercooler Plate Pics attatched

Could you get some pics of it installed? Just of how it fits in there and the room around the in/out lines of the core, not too worried but the lines can be run a couple different ways.

i use alot of different tools actually, drill press, router, saw, etc. As for being installed, not currently. I had the aluminum version on there last and am waiting till i get my modified m90 done to install because i dont want to keep taking it apart. The core is just like any other one, can be swapped out in minutes. The two plates are bolted together. As for pcv, could probably incorporate it if there is a need for it, just let me know when you want to order it. Just a matter of drilling 2 holes to get it done, like i said, i didnt want it. I had no problems with the other core as far as line interference so i wouldnt see how this one would be a problem. Thanks.

X5 dependant on price, I have a friend who is looking to IC also.

Is there anything that you want to stray away from using on phenolic material?

If you go to zzps website, you will find out that phenolic is far superior to using aluminum. You will not get heat soak problems like aluminum especially with repetitive pulls. Does not absorb heat whatsoever. Its also alot easier to work with. I have no results on how well it works, but consider this... the core im using is 7.5"x8.5"x2", 3/4" inlet/outlet. Im pretty sure it will perform the same if not better then the one they are selling.

I'm talking to a friend tomorrow about them while were tuning his car, then i'll get back to ya...

It looks pretty sick man, I'd like to see it on a car and running though before I drop the money on it only because funds are SO tight right now...

ok, ill have to get ahold of the material then ill post some pics, it would be a while before i can get it installed as i want to put all my stuff on at once and i need more money for injectors and maf. send me a pm if intersted in buying one. shipping to canada ill have to check.

OOhhhh! A N* Phenolic adapter would be awesome! Not too sure how it would handle a hole drilled into it sideways, however.

I already have an aluminum one, but if you feel up to doing so just to see, go for it. I have a spare N* just laying in my garage. I guess if I had an adapter for it, it'd sell easier...:D Need dimensions?

If you could make an all-phenolic that was maybe 1.5" to 2" in height, and retained PCV functionality, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

I suppose that would require a thinner heater core / IC core than what you're using?

How much better would the SSIC core work if it was in a phenolic shell?

Hopefully minichopper could answer that question for about the $300 list cost of the SSIC core/shell as-is; I'd be game to check that out. ;)

(I do note that ZZP sells the SSIC core alone for some $70 IIRC)

I'd think there could be quite a market for that, as some folks want better than SSIC but don't want to mess about with lowering the engine, etc.

im sure if the zzp core or similar was bought one could be made around 1.5 inches. ill have to do research if i can find a heater core that thin, or a more expensive one from zzp would have to be bought then built around that. i see what your saying as far as height, but the reason i made this one was for maximum efficiency, but if there is a demand for the ss version ill look into making a prototype for everyone to see.

as far as the northstar, i have the newer one, is it the same bolt pattern as the old?

Negative. It uses a 4-bolt design instead of the 3-bolt that the newer N* has. It's essentially the same layout, though. I may be able to scan in a diagram of the mating plate if I can find the one I made a few months ago.
