• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Crazy Taz and his wire tuck.

Hey how many times do you guys think I can extend a wire? Because some of the peices from the other harness aren't long enough to reach withought adding a second or thirs piece of wire from some where else on the spare harness.

if it were me, id try to make it just one piece of wire, (between cuts) the more times you splice wires the more potential problems you may or may not get.

thats what I was thinking... but that means all of them are going to be the same color... yay! more fun for me...

Well I guess I'm off to the store to buy a hundred bucks in wire if they even have it lol

keep it up, your a mad man on mission now, there's no turning back at this point lol

oh you gotta get it going!

i cant even imagine your pain lol im soldering/heat tubing wires for a new deck.. couldnt fathom doing a whole harness!

I got everything I need to get this done except wiring for the battery I was thinking of just picking up some jumper cables of the same gage and cutting the ends off and splicing them in?

also should I keep the ground in the engine bay and add a second one in the trunk?

Theres my big old hole

that may look like a lot of wires but thats nothing when you compare it to how many I have to handle in total

i wouldnt do the jumper cable thing, they are not designed to handle the sustained heat etc.. i would add a second ground ,why not.

if i had time /money i would totally come down to help you!

so I got a ton of stuff to do tomorrow or today I guess... If I don't wana walk to work lol... for the battery situation I'm going to have to order wire to run to the trunk no one sells the stuff here the longes piece I could find was 72 inchs so I picked it up anyways and the battery can ride the passengers foot well untill the wire gets here... the only other thing holding me up is no one has 20 gage wire I got almost all the wires ran tonight except the 20 gage ones I have some 20 gage wire in the garage but its single strand...

All in all I would say it's not that this is a hard thing to do it's that it just eats time like crazy...

You know what takes up extra space and looks PRETTY!!!!???
Turbo!!!!!!

Damn clean I love this car more pics down the side of the passenger strut tower I want to know what you did with the harness that usually runs their.

Battery cable ??? Nearest car audio store /DONE Besides the thinner wire with more strands to make up the gage will be better anyways.

I got pictures I'll upload some here in a min. the Passenger side is really easy once you get things out of the way it all kind of just drops down behind the fender one whole fuse block and all the 12 gage wiring runs into the car to the fuse box in the dash behind the glove box so that you don't really have to do anything to that but make shorter so its less of a mess.

I really wish I had the time and tools to pull the enging out while working on this because it would be so much easier because I could do it witt extending less and more just sorting through the stuff no lie theres just some plain stupid wiring on these cars I can understand being mass produced you can't make things perfect but I've found single wires that were routed all ther way around the engine bay making them like 8-10 feet long and the end ends up about 5 inchs away from where it started...

So it's like they were trying to hide wires and make it look pretty but they did a bad job at it.I have no Idea how I'm going to hide stuff on the other side though because half the stuff there I can't move eaisly I might just hide a handful of wires on the other side and then gets whats left of the back and start on the engine stuff.

My goal for today is to get this side finished and the car up and running again but I'm not holding my breath. Main thing I would say to anyone else wanting to do this be prepared order everything you need and extra you will go through wire like nothing a spool of 100 foot wire might seem like a lot but were talking about extending a few 100 wires multiple feet lol.

So heres what my car looked like before I started
IMAG0528.jpg

yup just got the hood finished and my new lights then I fixed that brake thing drove it a day and tore it apart to look like this...
IMAG0545.jpg

Some freak storm came out of no where when I went out to get more wire I saw the clouds rolling in from the store so I pushed the 06 a little bit to get home because I had a bunch of tools out and left my door open and my hood up... Also as you can see no one in my family can park... lol

all of those red wires go to the fuse box inside so does the top fuse block I think, maybe the midlle one I'll have to check for ya.

I don't know what the weathers like around you guys but around here it's F**king hot and humid.

IMAG0554.jpg

So I installed an umbrella! makes A good light holder at night too! lol If I would just pick up the garge I could have parked my car in the air conditioning.

IMAG0555.jpg

picked up that wire holder thing at radio shack its called helping hands or something it's got aligator clips to hold your wires for you as you soder and its got a spot for your iron and it had a magnifiing glass but I took it off because it was in the way on this project, but it was 17 bucks

IMAG0557.jpg

I finished extending the second block so now I have 2 of three inside the car

IMAG0559.jpg

You can see the length I added here. The red tape is over the butt splices, that way should I have to go track down a short I don't have to take 100 feet of tape off to find it.

IMAG0565.jpg

can hardly even see it go behind the power steering line

IMAG0566.jpg

more wires making there way into the cabin

IMAG0560.jpg

Thats what I have left to extend, theres a ton of wires in that block and most of them are pink... I might go see about ripping the onstar out to one see what wires from it I can use and two make sure I'm not reconnecting wires to something that dosen't even work.
