• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Crazy Taz and his wire tuck.

anybody on the coolant thing? I should be able to just run the line to what used to be the window washer fluid and put coolant in it right? it should still be able to draw from that when the system creates a vaccum

bottles a bottle but the washer one has the pump in it. Shouldnt be that hard.

so I'm going to try and see if I can trade shifts and finish this part of the project tomorrow, I just need to find a spot to go through the firewall and then I'm pretty much good.

So for my shopping list in the morning I got
electric tape
more heat shrink
#2 gauge wire for the battery
some grommets
plumming stuff for the new coolant bottle
more tape... and
more tape

A coolant bottle is at the height it is at ...because it's level fed. Meaning the fluid in the overflow typically sits at the same level as the top of the radiator. Otherwise..how does the fluid get back into the radiator.

Sorry...I didn't mean to pee in your washer bottle.

so I didn't think untill after I got everything apart what about the washer fluid sensor? am I going to be stuck with an annoying light on if I tear this thing out?

also do you think I could conver the washer fluid bottle into a coolant resivore?

I think the washer fluid sensor is just two wires. It might work if you just cross those two wires.

As for using the washer fluid bottle as a coolant reservoir, like bill said, they are at a certain height for a reason. And yes, there is a difference between an overflow and a reservoir. An overflow is just a catch can that catch the overflow from the radiator. A reservoir is a tank that is at the same height as the top of the radiator and allows the radiator to overflow fluid when hot, and pull fluid back in when the radiator cools down, keeping the radiator full at all times.

For the windshield washer thing, if its anything like the oil pressure sensor you will be fine. the pressure sensor is just a dummy light and if you unhook it, it stays off. (dumb way to make it IMO but good for us)

well as long as I have the coolant bottle atthe same height it will work right? all go rip a gas tank off a small engine and stick it behind the headlight that will work then won't it?

You should toss a message to Intrigue98 and ask him if he still has the nice polished one he was going to run. he didn't end up using it. Would probably have room for it in your clean bay.

I want everything out of the engine bay when I'm done tho... I wana see more pavement at the bottom of the bay and I just want to see the little ole 3.8 sitting in a huge hole lol

do you think I could get a radiator fabed with a resivor attatched to it? makes more sense to me

Or tuck it into the fender behind the plastic splash sheild near the passenger door. Yeah.. I looked at that with him last week. :D

Its not that the coolant bottle has to be in line with the radiator, its just the point where the hose goes into it. That should make it easy assuming you can put the hose connection anywhere.

alright then I could run it through the fender, bill do you have any ideas of where I can punch through the firewall in a easy to get to place near the pass side. so I don't have to take all of the interior out to pull wires through I'm thinking I'm going to hide the fuse box in the dash or maybe even under the windsehild cowl or whatever it's called.

also you might know better than me what gauge wire should I run for the battery I'm a littel worried about the distance and losing power

Taz, I think your nutz. You should join Bpro and ask Mike. He recently bought his wiring for the battery/starter stuff.

Me..I say leave this crap alone.

but it looks so much better when you get rid of the octopus on and around the engine that and I like to be able to work on my car without moving other things out of the way thats why the coolant bottle has to go no matter what I'm sick of moving that crap everytime I pop the hood

96-99 Bonneville. There's nothing but room!

You wanna see tight.. look at an Eff-Body. Had a 3.8 guy stop over with one and ask me to do a cam install. I referred him back to his local Effffffthat-body forum.

Lol^

Taz- I suggest making your own hole in the firewall. All the holes that go through the firewall are barely big enough to fit the wires that are supposed to go through them, let alone a big a$$ wire thats for the battery.
