anyways to my original question .


I have a 2002 GTP Supercharged and i want to start with the performance of elecrical and running the car cooler, ultimately creating more HP , a list of what i think might help and u add or remove things as neccesary.

My List (not positive about all of it)

HD Water Pump
ZZP 10.3mm Plugs
Camshaft ?
1.0 PCM
Alternator Voltage Booster
Fuel Pump Rewire
CAI
Smaller Pulley
Upgraded Alternator

This is what i had in mind , PS (the car is completely stock as of now)

Any Help Is Appreciated Guys
 
i dont think everyone should start ****tin on the guy cuz people here arent willing/ capable to get a gp to 9's. if thats what the guy wants to do then let him do it. no reason to assume he doesnt have the $20k to put into it if he wanted.

that being said, you have A LOT of work ahead of you if you really want to reach that goal. not only getting stuff for the build itself but plan on breaking ****, whether it be in the engine or trans, which is something you need to take into consideration before deciding to push your car right to the edge. imo this isnt the platform to go with to go that fast.

only thing i dont understand is the first post made it seem like you wanted to know how to run a little cooler and increase the electrical??? now your wanting the 1/4 record.
 
and for your original question, why talk about smaller pullies when your gonna be takin the sc off anyway? if your serious about the build scrap everything on the list except the cam and maybe the wires
 
well ok ill explain myself again hahha , this 9 seconds stuff (FUTURE)will happen within the next few years , were planning everything out , but as for my current mod list , as seen directly above , these will be current and are experimenting with the car to see what it can and cant do , wanna beef it above stock and start small and not open a huge can of worms right now , seeing as its my daily driver , i think doing electrical and cooling and cam n such can give me a huge improvement above stock but i need some assistance from u tunign vets , bc u guys have experience , i have done alot of reading and have come along way , im converging from appearance mods and shoving performance in ... do u understand ? i want to start on a smaller scale , not my 20-30gs just yet , maybe a couple thous on these mods , so helppp hahha
 


HD Water Pump - Not sure what pump you're talking about?
ZZP 10.3mm Plugs - Good for longevity, but don't expect a performance increase unless your wires are worn out
Camshaft ? - If you're shooting for 9s, you're going to be running a monster cam by the end, far beyond what you would be able to run right now, so maybe just wait?
1.0 PCM - Waste of money, if you want to get beyond the mid-13s, you're going to want a tuner anyway, so might as well just get one
Alternator Voltage Booster - should be fine
Fuel Pump Rewire - won't help much now, but good for the future
CAI - always good
Smaller Pulley - not without some exhaust work
Upgraded Alternator - unless you're going for a huge sound system, forget it.

Edit, you mention this is your daily driver, I seriously doubt it's possible to have a 9 sec daily driver out of one of these cars without converting to RWD or something.

skip the water pump, alternator, etc.

180* stat will help but more so with adjusting the fan turn on temps lower so they come on sooner. exhaust work def. needed. 3" downpipe does alot since it gets rid of the u-bend. if your planning on taking it pretty far with the sc look into headers. if your not gonna be going crazy a plog/dp SHOULD work. intercooler and CUSTOM tune should also be at the top of the list.

reading the modding threads will help a lot, just dont take it literal, use it more as guidelines and you can trim it to what your goals are while you have the sc.

as far as cams im wanting to do a s1x cam from intense. i believe the only cams that work on stock heads are s1x, vs, and xp. again reading on the specs of those will help you decide whats best for you.

these are just some of my suggestions but i dont know what your goals are hp or 1/4 time wise....
 
That poor poor Grand Prix :( I think you should put that one out of its misery before you try and "bling" another one. First thing you should do is look to get lighter wheels/better tires and tear all that ugly gaudy stuff off. It's a GRAND PRIX not an Escalade... show some respect and just make it fast.

How's a 17 year old going to be acquiring this "$30,000" anyways?

When people (the op) appear to be pretending to know more then they actually do, others (long time GPF members) feel a bit insulted. Sort of like when my friend tried to convince me a K&N CAI was going to give his Honda 25WHP a few years ago. Its more humble and accepted when people offer their lack of knowlege and then ask for help. So basically no ones trashing on the guy because they "aren't willing/ capable to get a gp to 9's"

In addition you bring up a good point with items breaking, sub 10 second cars taken to the track will frequently damage things both big and small. A great thing to take into consideration.

First off thats the longest sentence i have ever seen :th_tongue3:

Second off you have the right idea in terms of writing down and planning out what you want to do. Here's a few hints and tips to help you out.

-A progressive build is usually inefficient, the reason being is that people always want to go faster so mods they put on eventually become inefficient and obsolete. ie. put a plog on drop pully no kr, drop pulley again, get kr need headers. The plog is now a paperweight.

-Here's what you need if you want a 10 car:
1) A complete plan of all parts and where ur going to get them.
2) A different Daily Driver.
3) A very reputable shop to do your work OR access to a shop with all of the proper tools.
4) The money you calculate for the build AND some extra.
5) ALLOT of time if your doing it yourself.
6) A tuner and knowledge how to use it well or someone who does. This is key.

-I am planning a 12 car and i have over a page of ideas, and i just started it.

-If however you want to spend under 6k (plus labor) and want a 12 second car then that is much more attainable with your S/C GTP.

-Its impossible for us to tell you what some good beginning steps are(if you plan on transitioning from a stock gtp S/C to a fast GTP S/C to a 10 sec GTP Turbo) I mean yea headers, CAI, cam, electrical, pcm. But ALL of these mods will be useless if you decide to go sub10's and/or turbo.

Where to go next?

Set goals for yourself.
-How much you want to spend?
-What setup you want to use (S/C or Turbo)?
-How fast do you want to go in the 1/4 mile.

If he's going to be in the 9s, he'd better know how to do his own tranny work, since the clutches are going to need to be replaced regularly.
 
yeah no worries , we were going with a custom turbo setup, maybe even twin for the 8's , they will build off eachother , 6 spedd race transmission , titanium piston , two stages of nitrous , this car right now is a show car but obv is going to be the fastest gp and gtp for that matter , so it kill competitions and burns up the track haha

hmm so should we make this build up to 40k? good luck... and ughh nice car... yeah :th_laugh-lol3:

To each his own. I had a HAI, hollowed out cat, rims, W rated wheeles and a flowmaster muffler on my 1994 Chevy Lumina Euro. (~112WHP). I remember thinking with my mods i was like 160 HP:th_lipssealed1:. Yea i was 17.
