Do you ever hear the hard drive spin up, like a bad cd would?
Those damn Dells are notorious for fail hard drives. If you have another scrap laptop, swap the drives and try installing windows.
Have you been using that pos again?.. and if you are, did you do a check disc.

You have some dis-assembly instructions?
Usually they'll have top and bottom screws holding the same piece. Hidden under keyboard, stickers and rubber bumpers.
From there clips that have to be tweaked apart.
 
Yeah the screen is in the way of taking it off compeltly and id rather not get into that. I have a computer guy who will check it out for no charge and see what he can do
 


Have you decided on just getting a new laptop? Otherwise try booting it up from your windows disk if it starts to get hairy. If that fails then I would agree and say your hdd is taking a digger. Although it already sounds like it is lol.
 


i didnt have the disc so my computer guy took a look at it and reloaded it for me. and then made this my background for me
