Complex Problem,5 second deceleration

I have a 2001 GP gt, been having this problem for about a year now, first I lost od in tranny thought it was that, but after I got the $ and tranny fixed it still presists, so here we go. When driving at highway speed the car will suddenly decelerate briefly and then accelerate and you never move your foot on the gas pedal, does it at varieing times usually about every 10 or 15 miles, changed plugs & wires, fuel filter, speed control sensor, the only other thing I can think of is abs sensor, the light is on , got to be from left wheel cause i changed the left one, but what i can find the abs should have nothing to do with this problem and since it cost about 300.00 for a wheel bearing assembly, hoping someone here can shed some light on the subject, thanks guys, any ideas

Do you ever notice if the tach drops to 0 or anything wierd when this happens?

The only 2 things that come to mind is a flaky ICM, or a Crank Position Sensor going. When I had a cracked coil it was messing with my ICM and eventually fried it. Check the sides of the coil packs for cracks. Mine was hard to see until I looked closely with a bright light. This is of course after it came home on the hook for a failed ICM.

It runs great except for the sudden, quick decel, then accel, will check coil packs for sure, looking for anything now except the shops big bucks, lol thanks, i,ve spent almost 2000.00 for tranny, tune up, brakes, rack and pinion, intake manifold gaskets and various parts trying to fix this, just trying to avoid car payments

dang i forgot, tach say its 2.5 it'll drop to 2 it happens so fast it comes right back up, hard to diagnose until it does it and stops, but hasn;t yet, just very quickly decel, then accel right back

Could be a maf sensor as well. And who told you a wheel bearing sensor cost $300? It's $120 ish for the timken at autozone.

Oh well i guess that makes sense about 1 hour to install at $90 an hour plus the upcharge on parts and bam $300

take it to the trans shop and have it scanned, it could be a bad sensor in the trans, like the tcc, or pcs solenoid.
thanks fo reply, when i got the tranny fixed for 750.00 the man said wasn't noting in there that would cause that problem and he changed the tcc, i changed the vss the other day , and was a bi8ch to get to, lol got a feeling it's a sensor, but there are quiet a few of them, since changing the vss abs light stays off for a little while and car doesn't seem to do it, after a few scans at az they are guessing also, 1 time they said o2 sensor

cleaned maf sensor plus not doing them symptoms, car runs and shifts great, other than the very brief deceleration, every now and then, just enough to drive me crazy and heck i hardly ever drive it, it's the wife's car. i saw on here where a fellow's car done similiar for 3 years, hell if it ever does it and completely quits i might can find it, i want to put it in shop, but right now gotta spend the extra$$$ on the dentist

Mine would cut out while driving when my maf sensor went bad it drove me nuts until I swapped it out but mine threw a code.

oddly enough, my car ran just frigging fine when my maf code was lit up lol i had to change my maf and pig tail. fixed them both, the light went off, car still felt the same.

when i bought my car i had 3 or 4 codes, and every idiot light on the dash was lit up like a x mass tree. but ran well, i still dont get it.

would it just cut out for a couple of seconds and come right back, just every now and then ? they are about 136.00 + core would buy one if i,m sure thats it

Yeah and sometimes it would stumble taking off from a stop
mine does fine all but the decel at highway speed, no spit or sputter any other time, i think i got oldtimers, lol, i do happen to have 2 gp's so i think i,m gonna swap the maf sensor and see if i can give problem to my son's gtp, if it works then i,'' buy one

Could also be the Throttle Position Sensor. Mine would get a second or two of deceleration at 60 mph. I replaced the TPS and I'm all good to go now.

dang, did it continually do it say every 10 miles or so ? see it could be all kind of sensors, but thats what mine has been doing fo over a year a second or two of deceleration at 60 mph, i,m confused, i,ll google tps now, thanks
