comp g guys, high shift rpms?

First off i am not sure this is in the right section but here goes. I would like to know what rpms your car shifts at during normal driving. I just bought this car and it seems to shift a little high. If i am very light on the throttle it shifts ar about 2500 rpms. If i drive normal its 3k every gear with 3-4 being higher over all by 2-300 rpms, is this normal due to the 3.29 gears?

I know this isnt a RPM chart as they don't have one on HP Tuners, but this is the PART THROTTLE "Normal" shift speed based on throttle postion.

Numbers are differnt for the FULL THROTTLE chart.

Took this from a 04 Comp G File.

Mine shifts at lower rpm's if i'm not on the throttle. Might clean your tb and do a trans fluid and filter change.

Thanks ffdp i'll have to scan my car n see if maybe its been modified somehow. I just changed the fluid n filter in hopes that would help or change it but nothing happened. Still glad i did though since it was horrible with lots of glitter, 204k miles would probably do that though. lol

Have you cleaned the tb lately? Mine was terribly dirty it took me about 15 min of scrubbing to get it decent and it only has 134K miles on it.

Looking over that file posted I'm definitely thinking its not right. I can hold it at 45 and it wont shift until i go about 55 as far as 3-4. If i use the tap shift it will shift earlier at a lower rpm as im used to seeing in gtp's.

Would cleaning the throttle body actually help with my shift points or you just suggesting it since i have high miles? This is my first electronic tb car so i dont know if there is something that can plug up and throw off my points.

I've had a normal 2.93 '04 gtp and now a 3.29 2004 compg.

There is a very noticable difference between the two. My current compg has a much higher rpm when shifting then the 2.93

3k rpm high or 2500 rpm high? Its been awhile since i've owned a gtp and i always thought it was more around 2k rpm shift points with the 2.93's.

Out of curiosity could transmission temperature change the shift rpm? I believe the previous owner installed a 160 thermostat as it never reaches 180 unless it sits. Same with the tranny temp... it takes forever to get to 100 and usually sits around 125-135. If i let it sit and idle engine temp will get to 180-190 and tranny temp will get to around 150. I am changing the thermostat out this week and yes the engine light is on for it.

Yeah its very noticable between a 2.93 and 3.29 in the shift points it took some time to get used to it... I've changed tcc lockup speeds and part throttle shift speeds so it shifts sooner in hpt, I see no reason why it needs to rev so high.

Trans Temp does have an effect on shift times, pressure and pretty much anything, it's a sliding scale.

Yeah no idea on how the computer works with engine and trans temps vs shift. All I can say is now it upshifts 2200rpms in every gear and about 2500 for lockup in of. Before it was about 3-500 rpm higher. It still shifts this way when cold but once engine and trans temp are up everything is lower. I have fresh fluid n filter and only other thing I replaced that day was plugs n wires.
