Seriously? Did you really just say that?hwy the air will keep your PCM cool and even while not driving the location of the pcm stays pretty cool especially if you have some sort of intake box over it which would keep it in a shaded area.
The point where you lose me is saying "they tested" and start copy and pasting everything they advertise.
How about you dyno your car both on the stock and the new intake, two or three pulls of each. Make sure AFR stays the same too. Otherwise you can get more HP by unplugging a vacuum line and running super lean. Doesn't necessarily prove anything.
For the billionth time, if you're rolling, IAT's are irrelevant. If you're sitting, IAT's will be higher without a CAI. Chances are, you don't have the traction down there for it to make a difference anyways.
And yes, I've had a box of this design. Even routed the air from the fog light into the box. Was a complete waste of time.
Also, cotton filters tend not to filter very well. All that means is you're going to wear out your engine quicker.
Seriously? Did you really just say that?
And you really think that small amount of plastic and heatshielding is going to stop the air from getting hot as frick anyway when the car has been running or when it sucks it into the 9 million degree heaton supercharger after passing over the crossoverpipe and hot throttlebody? Its dyno proven that cold air intakes do nothing but help restrict flow if anything.
You cant compare a cold air intake to a stock box like they do, you need to compare a cold air intake to a proper hot air intake.
They look neat and on N/A cars make some sense. Otherwise its dumb.
You work on your car in the sun? Poor guy. Someone needs garage space...Is that not true? Intake boxes do provide protection for the PCM if you have one. In our cars the front fender well corner is the coolest place in the engine bay and yes with the PCM being mounted there it would help it stay cool and when I said SHADE I was referring to when the hood is OPEN ON A HOT SUNNY DAY AND THE SUN IS BEAMING DOWN IN YOUR ENGINE BAY WHILE YOUR WORKING ON IT OR WHATEVER THE CASE MAY BE your PCM would be safe.
Anyway like I said PCMs are made to withstand engine bay heat, it was just a figure of speech for the member who asked the question so he could feel comfortable about the PCM being in the engine bay.
I MEAN DAMN GIVE ME A BREAK HERE.........

Remember tuning has a lot to do with it, personally i dont care about dyno numbers, you can tell the computer anything......
IMHO its all about what times the car gains at the track
I have seen that kit. I could never justify spending that much on a CAI. It looks like the quality is real good. I don't know about the 10hp gain. All CAI's seem to produce the same amount of minimal hp.
