Hey guys, so I'm the new witness to the incomparable CAI Inc. CAI. I've had a few CAI's in the past between my two 3800's but this is by far the best. The Quality is top notch and the look couldn't be any cleaner than it is already. Installation is smooth and instructions are very clear(specific to your year, make, and model). The craft of this product is thoroughly thought through and is made for the long run. Now I've been procrastinating about this product for a long time and I know most of you have heard of this product, but if your in the market for a CAI I can assure you that this would be your last one you'll ever need. Shipment is quick and the price is matched with the longevity and quality of this product. Now here's the good part, it is a true power adder. First thing I noticed was the strong pull with the RPM's staying steady, smooth, and firm all through the power band up to a healthy RPM@6200. Supercharger whine is great with their 9" high performance filter but not the loudest but more than enough to have people wondering what the hell is under your hood(I'm running a 3.4" pulley for now but as we all know the smaller the pulley you have the louder the whine would be along with the amount of air entering/exiting the S/C). I can't say it's the best CAI out there because that'll be your own preference, but what I can do is recommend this CAI for anyone who wants to maintain cold and or ambient air to their motor and a quality product that'll last. And its just a box with a filter and STILL has corrugated tubing, I can totally see how you can gain 10-16 horsepower from that....................................
 


I will say this, because of the fact that this box does its job at pulling in "colder" air, thats the reason the car feels quicker or gets all the power it can. The wamer the air is, the less HP that could be there at the given time.
 
Personally I think it looks good and much better than the ****ty DIY intake some guys do around here. BTW love the engine cover as well!
 
Yeah as I mentioned its a great CAI and 2nd to none. The quality is far better than most and you don't have to worry about it falling apart while doing 150mph on the hwy(every now and then in the express lanes when theres no traffic) lol. They didnt make a tube for our application bc the cost would've out weighed the actual gain in power from the tube (nothing extra really). All there other kits come with a ceramic tube(by the way nobody else provides this) which further insulates from heat soak. Me personally, ima just buy a tube and ceramic coat. It'll be for cosmetics only to compliment the CAI itself. Hey the 16 horsepower to the wheels are backed by their own testing and of course the set up you have on your motor and how healthy the motor is running.

Again, your preference. Im not promoting, just giving my experience with it. Oh, and did I mention it looks great in the engine bay.....
 


16 hp if you are like running a 3.0 pulley, headers, cam, ect and then saw the loss when you went to a stock intake...:th_scratchhead: but no on does that.

it does look pretty though:th_thumb-up: and im glad there are some people who still believe cold air is better then hot air.
 
I installed an air intake when my car had just shut down on a hot day and when I pulled air box I noticed how cool my computer was. After a short drive and open cone I was shocked to find how hot my computer was and I put stock back on. Do aftermarket kits deal with computer cooling?
 
I made my own sealed FWI for $30, smooth tubing and sealed from the engine bay. No intake kit is justifiable because they all cost 10 times what they're worth.

Make your own or go home.
 
If you want you can wrap your PCM with some type of heat insulator but as long as your driving especially on the hwy the air will keep your PCM cool and even while not driving the location of the pcm stays pretty cool especially if you have some sort of intake box over it which would keep it in a shaded area.

But no worries, pcms are made to be in engine bays and can withstand a nice amount of heat. Just dont mount it to your headers, lol....

All their intake tubes come ceramic coated, but not the kit for the 3800s bc they didn't make one for us due to the fact that the travel from their cai to our throttle body is so short that the tube would've had no impact on our performance and we've would've been paying more money with no benefit from it.

I personally still think a nice tube would flow better for sure, CAI inc. Just didnt want to charge us the extra money for the close to nothing non benefit from it.

Well the whole kit is over priced for the next to nothing gains. Only good part about it....the nice clean looks

No, the next to nothing gains was the tube itself if they had added it. This CAI is solid and has proven dyno horsepower gains just like the ZZP WizAir or any other CAI out there that claim gains from dyno proof. Yes the price is steep but most CAI that are expensive are bc of their proven power gains and quality. You can buy a $300 K&N CAI but its far from being sealed but still claim to be a COLD air intake with a 15 HP gain. For one this wouldn't be a COLD air intake, but at least this kit is completely sealed from engine heat standing behind its name COLD AIR INDUCTION. The quality of this kit is in its own category and the air flow is crazy, I mean look at the opening of this CAI pure air just rushing in while cold as can be and seal from engine heat.

A few reasons why this CAI may be expensive: The only CAI on the market that offers a intake tube ceramic coated inside and out, a Polyetheretherketone filter lid, custom filter, and most importantly their CAI are all custom and made specific to your car while most CAI are universal and not guaranteed to fit perfectly. I mean it is what it is, you pay for what you get. While it may not be the best it damn sure isn't the worst....
 
I mean cold air intakes have always been an argument about whether they worked or not. Look at the CAI kits for Mustangs and so on, they can be easily $300-500 or more and most of them aren't even sealed from the engine bay heat(maybe a 1/4 of the filter is shielded but the fact is that if there's an opening for hot air than that's what your motor is sucking in). Yes the most important thing here is air flow which most CAI provide but the cooler the air coming in and maintaining that cooler ambient air opposed to the motor heat than the denser the air would be which will create better flow and more air providing potential horsepower gains. Our L67s love the morning cold air(as all motors do) and we could maintain at least a 1/4 to 1/2 of that through out the day with the right CAI kit. Pick and choose the CAI kit you want and then make it work the way it should if not already. Optimum flow is great, but optimum flow and denser air is what our motors grieve for.......
