Coilover Questions

So I've been doing a lot of reading and research on different systems and I was looking into the KYB's for the struts(not exactly sure if I should go with them because of mixed reviews) and AQ1 12" springs. Now I'm asking how much of a drop will this give me for those who have a similar system? And for the springs weights for an 04 Comp G; will they be 400 in the front and 350 in the rear? Or is that too soft for front springs? I don't want to "slam" the car down because I'll be potentially using this thing in the winter.

I really should have asked this on your thread. I have no understanding of this so that's why I was reading into yours. Do you have an 04+ GP?

I did have an 04 GP some time ago. Coilovers have a give and take to them. If you want simple, a strut and spring combo maybe a better choice over coilovers. I drove on SSC's for a winter without issue before I went to coilovers.
 
Youll want 10inch front springs dont get caught up on brands...however i will say summit brand and qa1 have treated me well..

Spring rate youll want no less than 350# i daily drive mine on 450" but i do have bilstein shocks.

I wouldnt bother with agx shocks though unless you keep them at a relativley near stock ride height.
 


When i had them side by side agxs turnen up all the way still didnt have the travel nor the stiffness. Thats my experience with them.
 
Like Drunkie said, the ride height is determined by where you spin the perch to, so the drop can be anywhere you would like it. If you're worried about winter you can thread them up to stock height or near it for winter and back down for summer. If you do have them through winter though you WILL want coilover covers. Bilsteins are the nicest struts you can get for these cars and handle drops much better than the kybs.
 


Dave: I found my Bilsteins went through winter and handled it pretty well. But since you guys are cutting them up, put some good paint on there. The big thing I'd strongly suggest is making sure there is a dust boot of some kind to protect the seals. That is a huge thing that will go a long way to preventing premature strut failure. So if the stock dust boots wont' work, coilover covers should be on your list.

Okay lol. So the "to get list"... I should go with 10" hyperco's in the front and back(still not 100% what to get the springs at), Bilstien struts with boots, what else? Like I've said... never done these EVER. I seen someone said they use "helper springs"? Why and what for? And those genesis guides? What's that..? Maybe I shouldn't have looked into this hahaha! Man I feel stupid
