I was cruisin in a stock gt coupe and a ricer in a ss cobalt coupe w/ catback exhaust was tryin like an @$$hole weavin in and out like he was the $hit, anyway when he pulled up next to me he reved it up to earn my respect he didn't deserve, he hit the gas and accerlated full force I did the same and easily caught him and pulled wtf? I didn't expect to catch him at all he should have the advantage b/c even though he only had the s/c version @ 205 bhp he still should have had a weight advantage so wtf?

Maybe he needs the driver mod lol. He might have had a crap load of KR as well. Did you hear his s/c whine? Might have been a LS with SS badges. Anyways good kill!

not all the SS cobalts are supercharged. my brothers gf has a cobalt ss that is naturally aspirated. if the badges say cobalt ss supercharged then its a different story.

Thats like saying a SS Camaro is nothing more than a LT1 instead of a LS1, just dosent make sense as to why they'd do that. If I buy a trim level, id want the performance to go with it.

This is true. I used to work at Chevrolet and could never figure out the point of that. Sad thing is my dealership would only order the N/A version because they claimed the S/C version was too hard to move. Also the S/C version usually has a different wing on it.

yeah it deftinly waps an ss b/c I heard the s/c whine and it had the different rear wing, maybe its just complete pansy from a rolling start

The non-S/C SS's were H.O. 2.4 VVT Ecotec's, just like the ones they used in the G6 and G5 GT...IIRC...

Not all are. I bet this would give just about any car on this board a run for its money. 14 flat @ 103 and its stock. And compared to our cars mods for that Ecotec are ridiculously cheap.

Officially Official: 2008 Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo with 260 HP bows at SEMA - Autoblog

yeah but i'm talkin about the pre-2008 version with only the s/c rated at 55bhp, ik the turbo one is a very affordable and decently quick car for the price, at stock it does 0-60 in a respectable 5.7 seconds

Yeah, it really doesnt have any performance aspects to it, all that it really is is just an option package. its pretty stupid i dont see why they call that an SS at all.

55BHP?!?!?!?!!??!?!!:th_scratchhead:

Maybe 205 HP rated:th_biggrin2:

;)

I recently owned a Saturn Ion 3 with the 2.4L engine that the N/A Cobalt SS uses, it's a quick little engine to say the least and it's actually quite difficult for me to pick out which the faster car is, my old Ion or my new Grand Prix.

Good kill though, both the SS/SC and SS are quick little cars so regardless of which one it was, nice job - especially if he was being an ass.

Whoop dee doo.

So a car that's faster than the GTP or GXP is no big deal. Gotcha. What does that say about the GTP or GXP then? Just trying to get a feel for what you consider to be a "decent" car. Because by your comment, the GP deserves "whoop dee doo."

A good matchup would be mazda rx8 and a cobalt s/c. one car revs high as hell and the other one has a supercharger.... but both are still slow as f.

Cobalt's would own chit over an RX-8...those Wankel's only put out about 150 ft. lbs. of torque:th_tongue2:
