Clearing "Service Engine soon" light

New to the forum, not seeing how to search for related posts as I am sure there are some out there on this topic. Becoming rather frustrated with my 05 Grand Prix. I have an OBD II tester and was receiving fault codes for my before cat o2 sensor. I replaced both o2 sensors and did a tune up with new spark plugs, wires, thermastat and a coolant flush. Cleared check engine with my OBD and removed my (-) from my battery for a few minutes as I have read this is how to reset Service Engine Soon. The light still comes on. I was also reading any light bulb being burned out on the car would throw this code. I have no bulbs at all burnt out and the car is running fine. Any help would be great. Seriously sick of having to reset this every single time I start my car.

DON'T disconnect your negative battery cable. If you cleared it with the scanner the code is gone. At least until something goes wrong again and triggers it to come on.

I cleared the codes with my scanner and drove it 1st. The car has no codes at all after 100 miles. I was getting 2 codes 1. P0141 and 2. P0054

Yes, I still have my CAT and I got the o2 sensors at Autozone so they are correct as well. To clarify, I am not getting check engine anymore, just "service engine soon" every time I start it.

Is this when you turn the key to on, before you actually start the car?

If yes, that is just showing you that the light works. It's normal. Like the airbag etc lights.

It is the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" that comes up where the mileage is not the oil. It comes on when the key is in the on position then again when I start the car.

If the light stays on after you start your car and while it is running, then you might have something to look into. If the light goes out after a few second of starting your car, then it should be OK and there doesn't sound like there is a problem.

I push the center button on the message system and it goes away. I know there isn't a problem it is just super annoying and I'm tired of it every time I start the car.

Not sure how you are confused. The message center that displays the mileage on my car, when I turn the key to the ON position and let it cycle I get "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" audible warning and displays in the message center. Same thing happens when the car is started. OBD II plugged in and cleared all codes that I mentioned above and non have come back on. NOT a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!

Ok so you cleared the codes, don't have a SES Light on the cluster, don't have any codes re-appearing... but the DIC is saying Check Engine... sounds like a mechanical error in the DIC. But I could be wrong, electronics in these 04+ can get a little wild.

new cars and trucks have this info center crap, my 03 gmc had this "reduced power" in the miles area of the cluster, and it also would not do more than idle when it happened, the cel light never came on, took it to the dealer as it was under warranty still, and it was a bad maf sensor. yet the cel never came on.

so id try resetting everything by taking off the battery and see what happens from there. the dic may need a reset and the scanner wont do it?

Again, its SERVICE ENGINGE NOT CHECK ENGINE! My OBD scanner cleared my codes I had for my o2 sensors. Done that more than a week ago now and the check engine light is still off just like it was. The message center displays SERVICE ENGINE SOON when the car is started or put in the on position as I have said 4x's now.

Could this be as simple as an oil life monitor that needs reset? On an 03 turn key to run, but do not start. Push accelerator 3 times in 5 sec or something, then turn key back to off.

Maybe post a pic, still confused here.
