Cleaning engine

Sudden

Is there a proper procedure to clean the outside of the engine? How easy is to mess things up on these cars?

Bag the alternator, coils, battery, air filter if you have a cone, pcm maybe?... soak it with degreaser... lots of people like Purple power, let it sit a few minutes, hose it down..

I used meguiar's tire shine on a paper towel on all of my hoses after it dries, looks awesome.

I'll tell you another thing that works really good is scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner but it turns aluminum black though

I had a coil that was cracked but didnt cause any problems until I cleaned the engine one day then misfires galore. Swapped coil pack and all is well.

Got some Gunk foam cleaner, only thing I could find fast. It's a pretty mild cleaner. I only have 60,000 miles on my car and the only place that looked bad at all was the top edge of the front valve cover, where it catchs everything. I wrapped a few things in Glad Press n Seal, Coils, TB, Alt. It all looks good now.

Thanks for the advice.
