Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Choosing the right cam

I'm having a problem with my car, some times when I start my car the RPMs will go up and down almost shutting off then shooting up to 2000 or even 3000 RPM. It only does it for a few seconds then idles normal. I had this problem months back for a while then went away, and now its back. Today I had it parked and reved up the car just a little then it started to idle weird like I explained above. What could this be from???

Any SES lights?

Spray carb cleaner around the vacuum lines and upper manifold.

If your idle continues to surge, it could be a vacuum leak or a warped UIM.

You can also unplug the MAF sensor and try starting it...if it starts normal then your MAF might just need to be cleaned or it is on its way out.

Yes the service engine soon light is on. It doesn't struggle that often. I was thinking the MAF sensor. Im doing a top swap soon so I'll be switching the MAF sensor

one thing i do recommend you get as soon as you can to monitor youre car is a scan gauge, areoforce is what its called there are others but most go with that.

I recommend a non-supercharged camshaft selection for one.

Think GT1 or GT2, the XP is for blower cars.

Lifters? Buy LS7's for the 3800 FBody on Texas Speed.

Yes; it's all the same crap. Every GM lifter for pushrod motors after like '93 or '94 are all the same.

My engine has about 115k miles on it and runs good. no weird noises. Im going to be doing a top swap soon with an xp cam. Im thinking about porting my heads...Is it worth it??? My main concern is what all I should replace in the engine since its going to be open. I will be replacing lifters, springs, retainers which is needed for the xp cam install. There is a good possibility that I will put in an intercooler down the road to run smaller pullies, and I was wondering if it is safe to do so with the higher compression??? I have heard of people doing a lower compression for these higher mods and Im curious if I should do the same??
