Chipped pistons options



Morad still has no L32 pistons,but has plenty of L67 pistons. 6 for $100 so I'll be buying some from him in less something pops up in the next few days.
Ok so is the ZZP engine overhaul kit all Felpro stuff? Price looks good at $219 with head gaskets.
I might be able to beat that at Oreilly with a friends employee discount. Also going to look into a ring set, main and rod bearings. Hopefully the discount will be enough that I can weasel the headers into the mix.

Any other little things I should be doing? gasket matching? any porting or cleanup work? lap all the valves in/de-carbon them.

I'm waiting on a response from Morad,last time I checked they had a 150kmile block but no pistons/rods. Are those TRW's a direct fit? You said they are for a GN?
I have my ex convinced I can make the car reliable,so she'll keep it now. So, I'm seriously looking guys.

Yeah, they are a direct fit. GN is still a 3.8, so same bore. Just compression will be a little less, I think. But a cheaper way out if you want.

If I were in your shoes, I would just stick with the ones from Ed though.

I have 6 pistons/rods coming from Morad from a L67 motor. Hopefully this coming week I'll be able to get a quote on bearings,gaskets etc heavily discounted.

Anyways Where is everyone getting there gaskets from? I was gonna get the complete engine kit from ZZP I need everything gaskets,rings,bearings,etc. Any suggestions on reassembly? Things I should be keeping an eye out for?

I always buy my Felpro stuff from the local Autozone. Always cheaper than ZZP for stuff like gaskets. Well, either autozone or rockauto, whoever is cheapest.

L67 Pistons/rods came in last week from Morad. They are currently soaking in parts cleaner to be decarbonized.
I also ordered main bearings,rod bearings,piston rings,complete engine gasket kit,assembly lube and coolant elbows from ZZP. I can't get employee dicount at oreilly anymore:( So it looks like no headers for this rebuild.

Planning on getting all the pistons cleaned over the next few days and then starting on the heads. The heads will be decarboned and the valves lapped in.

Any assembly suggestions are welcome/wanted.
 


LOL,the rotors ironically are new and not tooo badly surface rusted yet. Pistons are cleaning up remarkable well. Are the L67 pistons susposed to be bare or coated also? The skirts and top are coated on the ones i got from Morad.

I'm going to be scrubbing everything down including the nasty ass engine bay.
