Re: Chef's "KILLER" L36

Gots a question, would running different rocker ratios affect the performance of the engine? like running 1.7's on the intake and 1.6's on the exhaust?

Re: Chef's "KILLER" L36

Well I struck out on the LIM gasket fix for my new GP. Still having overheating problems while driving and alot of temp. flucuations in park. Must be a head gasket but it sure didn't seem like one. Compression test came out good. coolant system pressure tested and came out fine. no visible leaks in engine bay, and no smoke out of exhaust. Damn you 3100! DAMN YOU! lol

Re: Chef's "KILLER" L36

3100's are a fawker at times to burp. Did you follow the procedure of running it with the bleeder screw broken off, I mean er uh..opened?

31's aren't as well know for HG's as the 34's.

Re: Chef's "KILLER" L36

I tried bypassing the heater core. Now the hose frunning from the water pump to the UIM swelled like a virgin's penis on prom night. So I will replace that. Overheating now sitting at idle unless I give it some throttle. I was told by the shop guys who worked on it that they replaced the water pump and thermostat. Would a faulty thermostat cause this? During the last idle session, I also noticed both coolant hoses and the heater bypass hose got nice and toasty, but the radiator cap and radiator never even got warm. Could a partially blocked radiator be the cause? The car sat unattended for a few years. I was told that the previous owner (teenage girl) had driven the car for weeks with it overheating and next to zero coolant.

Re: Chef's "KILLER" L36

I pulled the heads off of Sandy (GP SE) and sure enough, it appears that there was a gasket leak on cylinder #1. So while I have the heads out getting cleaned, milled, and pressure checked, I want to try to fix the lean LTFTs on Shelly. A mechanic buddy of mine said that it sounds like I have an exhaust leak at the rear headers. I also noticed some carbon residue around the EGR pipe leading into the headers. I figured "what the hell" and decided to pull them off today and replace both header gaskets.... what PAIN IN THE ASS! Took me literally all day to do it. But I finished and drove her around for about 30 min. At first, the LTFTs were perfect; running between 1.5 and -.7 cruising. At idle they were right around 3.9
But once again, towards the end of the drive LTFTs started creeping up. As I pulled off the highway LTFTs were 3.9 cruising, when I let off the throttle they are jumping to 7.9 to 9.1. Idle is between 5.4 and 6.2
I am starting to believe that my Cam/Rocker setup is the cause of this mayhem. I can't figure out why Shelly starts running lean when it gets cold out.

Re: Chef's "KILLER" L36

I made a noob mistake! I forgot to reset the fuel trims after the header gasket replacement on Shelly. DUH! I reset them last night and so far so good, LTFTs are staying within 5 points of zero. :)

have you had that checked at a shop yet? it dont look all that bad.

you cant take the parts you need from the SE? rad support hood fender ect? hell the bumper cover still looks ok.
