• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Central NY peeps

There weren't any models/diecast made aside from NASCAR GP's (and believe me, guys have tried asking some companies a handful of times over the past 10yrs).

The Sylvan Beach cruise starts on Memorial Weekend, I believe. Not sure if anyone here goes to the Dunkin off Carrier Circle yet, but I know the Utica guys are already hanging out in their own cruise spots on Wednesdays. I'll try getting out once my SUNY IT classes are done in 2wks, and all the builds are complete.

lol i see your car everytime i drive home (fayetteville) from delta, we gotta meet up on a sat night or something on the blvd...what do you have done to your ride? like the spoiler, and exhaust! i still have some minor projects to do to mine.

Yah that'd be kewl! My boy has a hooked up sunfire its pretty hot we could cruise :) I don't have a tun of stuff done yet I just bought it but the orginal owner did a few things... 3.5 pulley, koni's, short ram intake, u-bend delete, mufflers and tips, strut tower bar. My boy works at a fabrication shop so we'll be putting some header's and a full exhaust set up on it soon. Prolly drop the pulley downt to a 3.4 too. They specialize in intakes as well so he'll put a better one on it, I can't wait! This car is SOOOooo FUN to drive and the new wheels I put on it are GREAT!

Is your car fast?

I'm from just South east of Buffalo, New York. Does that count? There seem to be only a few people from my area on here! It kinda sucks, b/c it'd be awesome to meet up with Fellow GP owners.

yeah we gotta make a time and date to meet up and talk about our carrs, i still have a few minor projects to do to mine...sucks that pontiac is no more huh?

i can't belive that gm is doing away with pontiac why not drop saturan or hummer or gmc trucks they are the same as chevys wow this SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Well i do agree with you that It sucks that they are dropping Pontiac. I am truly sad. However, they are dropping both Hummer and Saturn along with Saab by the end of this year as well. Now, it would even dumber of GM to turnaround and sell Saturn instead of just dropping it:th_scratchhead: b/c they would just be giving themselves more competition in the market. So i wouldn't put it past GM to do something like that in shoot themselves in the foot even more! Ughh can you tell I am frustrated at them!

hey wilson...you should let me know the name of the person/ shop that are going to do your headers...cuz i wanna go full 3inch from the motor back and i might need sumone to drop thaqt **** in...let me know if you can help me out, my car has to stay off the road cuz i broke an exhaust flange so its pretty much like open headers

I've already done about 3 builds this year here in Rome (Fiero with L67 swap got more upgrades/headers/etc, topswap/cam/headers on 02 Monte, SSIC on 04 Monte that has cam/headers... tuning on Regal GS, Impala SS...) About to do a turbo/cam/heads build on the Regal, and a topswap/cam/headers on an Impala LS.

As for Buffalo, UNYCGP is centered in that area. The big Summer Picnic is scheduled for June, hop on the forum and read up on it.

2009 Summer Picnic thread - June 27th, Letchworth State Park

A few hundred guys on there from Buffao to Albany, and about 10-15 are in the CNY region. It's been around forever, as the Upstate local chapter of ClubGP. I've been on there since 02 or 03, when it was just a Yahoo mailing list, then they evolved into a forum in 05. Great group & gets along good since we know each other in person, from meeting up every once in a while.

Link anything on GPF that has to do with our area, and I'll be sure to look at it. I think some of my local guys with some hefty mods will be going to the Syracuse cruises soon, at the Dunkin by Carrier Circle or wherever the kids go these days. :D

It is RD FABS you can check em out here...

Welcome To RDFabs Stainless Specialists Home Site

I'm down for going to blvd whenever so just let me know and I'm there :)

I like the cat-back that RD has for a GP in the Gallery for custom exhaust (listed as 02, but appears to be an 04+). Are they able to come into a price range on items that compares to getting fully stainless headers from SSAC? If so, I'd gladly work with them for a regular business, as they're locals. We did a custom cat-back on some SSAC's I modified, for a Fiero that came out amazing, but time/space can be a factor on occassion.

I'm all for getting out to Sylvan Beach on Thursdays, when that begins after Memorial Day. We'll have a few freshly built monsters rolling in from the Utica area for you guys to drool over. ;-)

You all need to make time for the UNYCGP picnic coming up!!!

Was about 30 folks last year, and will be that and more this year. Good chance to sit around the BBQ with the entire Upstate NY crowd, and talk about EVERYTHING during the course of the day.

We'll have about 5 cars rolling out from Utica-Rome in the morning, to meet up with the Syracuse convoy at 9:15am on the Thruway. We'll plan on leaving the Casino exit (33) by 8am.

ALSO...
ESTA Test-N-Tune this Sunday (they aren't running points brackets, to give folks a chance to go see the NHRA in E-town, NJ)
We're planning on doing some street-tire passes with the turbo Regal, hoping that keeps it out of cage territory for another day, until he get's some M/T radials for street/strip.

Bumping this back up, since I haven't seen any activity from this site all summer. :th_yawning:

We've been fairly active in the UNYCGP group, with a few people doing some 11 & 12sec builds, and alot of newer folks getting some good basics for a little extra pep over stock.

Drove out to Thompson a bunch of times randomly this summer, usually with Sam from Utica, in his black turbo '04 Regal we built. Became fairly good buddies with some of that group, and they even head into Utica on Wednesday night for cruising/racing once in a while.

There's always more people coming up to us at the track, and emailing me randomly for tuning/etc... so I know there's a good amount of active folks around here, just need to arrange more local events, I guess.

The UNYCGP picnic in June was great, BTW. Had about 25 or so cars, plus some LSx cars with former GP'ers. A few of had us hit up the last few track TestNTunes before they closed ESTA and NYIRP last week, as well.

For anyone in the area, there's a Post-Holiday meet planned for Jan 16th (Sat) at the Syracuse Quaker Steak & Lube at 5pm.

You can log on the UNYCGP to read details. All are invited, so great chance to get introduced to other active GP/3800 folks if you haven't already.

That location gives a chance to involve karting as well, if interest exists (not mandatory to ride if you come along after dinner). Canastota Kart is where we may round-out the evening. Attendees to the dinner can decide if this event will be part of the meet after we're done eating/chatting for a couple of hours.

There are already folks from Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, and Rome planning to attend, and have a good time eating & chatting about 3800's & anything else random. Hope a few folks in here that didn't know about it, can make time to attend also. :th_peaceout:
