Carcrobatic's White '00 GT ... SOLD!

Re: Carcrobatic's White '00 GT - Pic heavy thread

Big delay on update due to being super busy now that school has started. Balancing work/school/girl/family is tough!

Well, Firestone did a good job with the repair, but were messing with the brake fluid around the calipers so I had to respray the fronts, I was pretty pissed because they looked flawless.

Front brakes comparison:

F*ed up paint:

How low my car sits on the B+G's, barley enough clearance for the low-pro jack!

The only pics of the brakes on for now:

This weekend's project!

More in depth post coming up tonight, coils are installed. Here's a little bit of eye candy until later.

Re: Carcrobatic's White '00 GT - Pic heavy thread

Alrighty, wassup guys?

I started the install at 9:12, starting with prepping of organizing the tools I needed and taking measurements because I'm one helluva perfectionist. Before jacking up, I recorded height by measuring from the bottom of my wheel's center caps to the very start of the fender. Note this is with my B+G sport springs setup non S/C!

Tools!

Before Coils:

Measurements before coils:
Left Front - 15.8 inches flat
Right Front - 16 inches flat
Left Rear - 15.2 inches
Right Rear - 15.25 inches

So this is where my OCD kicks in, my goal is to lower the fronts enough to be even with the rear, to have a 15.2-15.25 inches of gap in-between the fender and the bottom of the centercap. BUT, before I did that, I needed to slam this guy all the way down for bragging rights!

Pics:

*Note this height was measured with NOTHING in the trunk.

Comparison of drop springs then coils, good view of new brakes as well!

Just before starting vs slammed: (Slammed pics edited to show detail only, colors will look wack!)

Slammed all the way = 14.15 inches between fender and c-cap, a total of 1.65-1.8 inches lower than the B+G's!
Looks awesome, but fender rests on the rubber obviously.

In the end, around 1pm, I had everything dialed in perfectly. I settled the springs 2.00 inches above the last thread on the coils and final measurements are as follows.

Left Front - 15.25in
Right Front - 15.25in
Left Rear - 15.4in
Right Rear - 15.1in

Overall I'm ecstatic about my new stance, it's visual perfect all around. The reason why the right rear is lower than the front I believe is due to my subwoofer being positioned on the right side of my trunk when the B+G's were settling.

iPhone pic of the final stance:

It rides much better than before, much smoother with less pogo. On the downside, my front rub like a BI***. I'm about to pick up a heat gun and start hammering away, if that doesn't fix it, I'm probably going to but thinner spacers for the front. If I left anything out feel free to ask.

Re: Carcrobatic's White '00 GT - Coils Installed!

When you go to town and hammer away on the fenders, make sure its really hot and then wear a glove on your non hammer hand and put pressure on the outside of the fender to make sure it keeps its shape. Not doing this is the sole reason why i had to rock a black fender lol. I just got carried away and forgot and it got pushed so far out and looked horrible. Dont want to do anything to mess up this purty car

Haha, I already finished four hours ago. I did everything you said too hahaha. My front left wheel has the smallest amount of camber vs the rest of the wheels and actually pokes out quite a lot, so I had to work on that one the most. I just washed the car earlier and I should be taking some fresh pics soon.

Re: Carcrobatic's White '00 GT - Coils Installed!

I took a number of photos at the nearest Arco station, but I only really liked this one.

Behold, my car at it's near-finished state. Just a few more minor mods will come with time. For now, it's time to focus more on school.

Re: Carcrobatic's White '00 GT - Coils Installed!

are you gonna sell your lowering springs??

Yes, problem is the rears are still on my car. I'm going to send my old front KYB struts to Richard so he can convert them to coilovers for the rear. After that, my B+G's will be on the market for whoever wants them. If someone were to claim them now, they better be comfortable waiting a little while for them hahaha.

Dang looks great! However one little thing, put some orange/amber led's behind those clear corners or rock some switchbacks with a white led behind the reflector

Thanks for the tip! I was never very happy with how the clear corners lit up.

Re: Carcrobatic's White '00 GT - Coils Installed!

No problem! Just go to ebay and get them for cheap or diode dynamics if you want a good source or anywhere else. Keep up the good work, looks great
