Okay, so I was driving home yesterday and I heard a clunk/pop noise. Thought maybe it was just something in the road. .1 miles later as I'm slowing down to the light my car starts making a thumping noise, like when it sounds like you have a flat and your driving on it. So I thought, just my luck a flat.. So as I'm pulling over to the side it started getting louder and kept popping, almost sounds like a broken chain on a bicycle as well, then my car comes to a complete stop and wouldn't move. So I press on the gas and it revs up and doesn't move.. So I put it in gear 1, tried it again, didnt move, tried the other gears, same thing.. So I put it in reverse, and it drives backwards.. So I go to drive it forward and it drive about 6 inches then you hear a loud popping noise/sound a a chain breaking noise.. So I thought maybe since it drives in reverse I can push it in neutral.. Well that didnt work, still wouldn't budge, I thought maybe I wasn't strong enough, so I got help, still didnt work.. So I drove it all the way home backward.. By the when I drive it back wards, it makes a grinding noise, like it's dragging something, or it's pushing threw something that stuck.. But do you have any ideas? The engine runs fine and everything, all sounds normal, I even started it this morning, sounds fine.. I just want to drive forward again!

I'd say the forward band broke and it's partially lodged causing the noises and keeping you from pushing. Car-part.com or a rebuild is likely in your future.

When I bought my car I had almost the same issue. No forward movement in any gear, and reverse worked with no problems. Here's what I found on my rebuild.

4th clutch shaft splines stripped,
3rd gear clutch pack friction material in pieces.
Input clutches worn down on the edges
Outer input clutch apply piston seal stretched
1-2 coast band worn down to the metal in some spots
3-4 apply band broken
All clutches had black rings burned into them.

So I think its time to source another trans. Keep the one you got and pull it apart so you know exactly what broke.

You drove all the way home in reverse? how far were you from home lol?

Most likely not more than a block or two..

If it was 1/2 mile I'd have used another car to push it home lol

Yeah I had to drive it home about a 1/2 mile, was pitch black out so I had someone drive behind me so I could see my way home

May I recommend Triple Edge Performance for a transaxle build?
I just got mine and I couldn't be more excited to get back behind the wheel.
