• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

car just killed on me while driving

damn. take it back off again. then put the key in the slot in the crank, then line up the groove in the balancer and put it back on.

if need be you can turn the engine so the key is facing up/ the top side of the crank.

there should have been a key in your crank. when you put the pulley back on theres a slot in the pulley that lines up with the key on the crank. ensure you did this properly or there will be major issues

I said this in post #12. If you didn't line up the existing woodruff key in the crankshaft with the balancer then your motor timing could be off. Stick a vice-grip on the flexplate to keep the motor from turning and pull the crank bolt back out and be sure you have the balancer lined up with the key.

you can still do the red neck starter bolt deal if need be, as long as the engine will crank over, its the starter that undoes the bolt.

Where do the key go??

It goes into the crank, not the harmonic balancer.....Well, this is not a pic of a 3800, but this is the general idea:
