car just killed on me while driving

Like this?

bare metal would be better, and you want the screw driver to be touching the metal piece inside the spark plug wire. You are getting the idea

okay cool, just making sure. You should see a park jumping from screw driver to the metal. Bare metal is best, but that's about it.

If you can find a good enough spot to set the screw driver you can look under the hood while inside the car when you are cranking it.

No because the starter does nothing else other than turn the motor over, and that is happening. Next step is to check for fuel. See this?

poke it like you are letting air out of a tire and see if it sprays a bit of fuel. Have a towel handy.

Yea, do you think I should get a crankshaft sensor and harmonic balancer for a different year grand prix because my car is a 97 but I swapped out the engine for a later model when my head gaskets blew

Yea it's out of a 97-03 and my check engine light wasn't on before I replaced the balancer and sensor. It was running good it just wouldn't start every time and my tach gauge would drop to zero and when it killed on me my low fuel light would come on and the battery light

Ok so it has been having intermittent issues starting before it died on you. the Tach would drop and come back, then when it died your low fuel light and your battery light came on correct? No check engine lights?

The first time I removed the harmonic balancer bolt I had to put a wrench on it and start up the engine to loosen it, now it's real east to take it off with a ratchet. Why is that?

You need to tighten that sucker on there, should be about 111 lb/ft then tighten another 76 degrees. If you do not have a torque wrench you will need to get under there with a breaker bar and just tighten it really good.
