Car compare what has more problems?

On the basis of engines alone I would naturally be biased towards Series II's.....then again I didn't have too good of luck with my last engine. I'll agree with smoke14, it all depends on how it is or isn't taken care of and driven.

It also depends on the engine. If its the 3.8 in the Mustang go with the Grand Prix, if its the 4.6 in the Mustang go with the Mustang.

Mustang is 3.8L as Grand Prix.

Would you buy a Grand Prix 1999 with 100k for 2300
or mustang 1999 with. 100k for 3400

Would it be less problems? Stronger faster?

Yeah the 3.8 Ford engine is pile of crap. I wouldn't even waste my time with a 3.8 Mustang would never ever consider buying one either. I would even take a 3.8 FBody over the 3.8 Mustang all day everyday.

getting a v6 mustang is like having a getting a gf that is gorgeous with a fat as* but she is a crack head.. its just sketchy

Not quite double the price, but def. more than the GP. Since it's a Mustang it's going to be priced higher than a family car, regardless of what we think of the GP's. As far as the Ford 3.8L, yes it's a dog in stock trim.

The question is, do you want FWD or RWD? Like the look of the stang better than the GP? Which one would be more functional to you (2 doors vs. 4 (assuming the GP is a 4 door)? Rear seat room an issue? The engine in the 99 GP if well maintained will last just as long as the Ford version. The key is maintenance.

The 4R70W in the Mustang isn't known to be as touchy as the 99 4T60E. The plus to the 4R is you can J-Mod it using a couple of drill bits and 2 new separator plate gaskets and you have an instant shift kit proven to work well with that trans. Then again you can install the trans-go kit in the GP and get some good results as well.

If I were to even consider a modern Mustang it would have to at least have the 4.6L in it to make it worth the price IMHO. Lots of aftermarket support for it and bolt-ons are getting cheaper. Depends on what your goal really is and how deep your pockets are, just like any car.

If your only choices are the V6 GP and V6 Mustang, then I would go for the GP personally. Just my .02
