Car all of a sudden will not start

Was going to head out a few min ago but to my surprise car wouldnt start. I try 3 more times and still nothing. Now heres the thing If i turn it to the first notch it displays on my DIC my mileage but when i switch it to acc. nothing comes on until i gave it a few min then music came on but still no start. Then I kept trying to turn it over and start then the music and warning chimes wouldnt come back on, it would click like it wanted to come on but nothing. And I also hear some clicks and my dial needles shimmy up and down. The check engine light also repeatedly flashes as i try and start it. What could this be? And my key fob wont lock or unlock it as well.

Yea its definately not that. Already checked that just in case. I had my neighbor give me a jump and it still wouldnt start, so im thinking starter/alternator.

alternator has nothing to do with starting the car.

do you have a volt meter? test your battery voltage. likely toast battery.

No volt meter. But things come on thats what I dont get, soon as I open the door interior lights are on and mi DIC display is on. I turn the key and radio/clock display pops up but then wont start. Turn everything back off and try again repeatedly and things wont come on anymore unless i keep trying or give it time. And when i turn it all the way to starting position i get this hum noise under the hood.

bad grounds, or the ignition harness may have taken a vacation leave.

check the 3 main grounds on the trans bell housing, make sure they are still bolted on and clean and tight.

had a gas powered forklift, do the same thing, even while jumping off with another lift, it would barely turn over and some attempts not turn over, just click. had to swap out batteries to get it to start.

like scotty said, make sure your grounds are nice and clean with no corrosion.

turn your headlights on. Are they bright or dim? If they are bright then your battery is probably OK, and you could have an ignition switch issue. Usualy if the battery is so dead it won't even click when you try to start it, it wouldn't have enough power to turn on the radio or the dome lights.

Well The lights would come on when it gets that sudden chance like it wants to come on but then wont come on again after awhile. I tried to flash the high beams and nothing. Ill just replace the battery and if that dont work then ill just take it back and have car towed to my mechanic.

Yea gonna try this stuff in a few once more sun lights stuff up. Really hope this Is simple. Another thing don't know if it makes a difference but when I close the hood I hear this static shock noise sometimes.

Well battery terminals are spotless,I even undid the negative cable for 15min and made sure it was back on tight. And still nada. There's that noise though its a hum click type of sound coming from battery area so it May just be the culprit. It puzzles me how this came all of a sudden though,no warnings and cars been starting fine.

Well replaced the battery and car did start up twice. But not jumping for joy just yet, gonna take it up to my mechanic and have them test the old battery and my alternator and starter just to be sure.

Can I be your mechanic? Free money is great.

Alt.. test battery with tons of stuff running to see if power is there or dropping. Multimeter
Starter...turn key a few times
Old battery...any AZ or Advance will test free

My alternator is the culprit! Took it to mechanic and voltage was a lil high but good. Had me turn everything on and voltage dropped to red then went back up some. He said that points to.my alternator which makes sense but damn I'm a lil pissed now.
