no heater or defrost in my 2001 gp gt, ive figured its a bad ignition (no blower even at 5). can i bypass the ignition swith and just put in a toggle switch to get me by..Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for the heater . ive searched hi and low but cant sem to find one.. Any help here from you guys would be amazing thanks a bunch, it only -25c right now but it drops to the -30s soon enough.

I think I got this same problem, when the heater doesn't work the headlights shut off too. I used Fog-X on the windows so they don't fog up. How hard is it to change an ignition switch?

i think its about a 2 hour job. I just don't feel like taking apart my steering console and dealing with the key tumbler and relearning the key. I found a power drop cable under the glove compartment and hooked my blower up to it. it worked but as soon as I drove home it quit so ill have to check some fuses today once I get my multimeter.. I was also wondering what color the power wire is for the actual heater .ac unit so I could just directly power the unit with a switch and bypass the ignition all together. if anyone has a wiring diagram id love to peak at it!

thanks guys, but i just lost the spare key to the car so now i cant even start it!!! lol!! Looks like its going to be a huge bill to have keys made and programmed. anyone ever bypass a pk3? maybe a pushbutton start?

damn it man!!lol sounds like a great time for a new ignition switch. take your registration card to nearest dealer and have them cut you a new key.

wal-mart sells the transponder keys.

Pretty sure they don't. Each key has a different frequency that it has to be set at. I'm almost positive you have to go to the dealer to get a key made.... unless you just want one that unlocks the doors. I could be wrong tho

pretty sure they do indy i work there unfortunately,or atleast we have them here. they usually range from $35-$65 we have the reader also, jimmy

you need to call a dealer or go there with your title or registration to prove you own the car then ask for the key code. a lock smith can cut the new key for far less then the dealership would sell you one most of the time.
