Burnt My GTP

...the recall for series II (OP is III) that only replaces one of the VC gaskets? Yeah, GM's spot on as usual. I'll sleep soundly knowing they've got my back.
I guess all I'm getting at is that compounding issues make the fire oil more likely, not that it's impossible.

The only thing different from an H/C/G body (that didn't receive the recall) is the metal shield over the front manifold. Sure the gasket contributes..but the other car owners don't get a recall at all.

Sorry for the loss. Hopefully the insurance company hooks you up pretty well on it.

well i paid $4,700 for the car and put at least a $2,000 into it in the past 8 months of owning it. Changed the LIM, plastic elbows to aluminum, went to green coolant, throttle body spacer, new tires, headers, regular tune up stuff(all the filters, plugs and wires) and then this **** happens. my old man is trying to tell me my headers are the cause of this, but the insurance lady I'm dealing with is trying to tell me since i tried to use my command start, that may be the cause. but no one will really know. there was a short some where and i think that short started this fire.

we'll see what my insurance does with it. I'm taking my rims and tires off of this car and putting them on the Comp G as well as my stereo system that i bought and put in there. so i might hear from the insurance company to tell me if this car goes to the grave yard or not on the 16th. Either way, i pay $700 to them as my deductible, totaled or not totaled.

I did have to put powersteering fluid in this car because she was leaking, maybe some of that sprayed onto the header? I really dont know what is the exact cause, there's a handful of stuff that could be the source to this problem. people say the headers, the command start, fluid leak, i think a short in the wires some where, but im not sure? only time will tell i guess.

looks like a v/c leak oil fueled fire, being its on the back of the engine. from the pics it looks fixable for sure.

how exactly did you post pictures like that on the thread? lol. i feel stupid for asking, but im sure ill be posting pictures of the progress of the Comp G while im working on her so id much rather do it that way you did it than to send people to photobucket.

http://www.grandprixforums.net/showthread.php?t=73960 simply put theres links to the right when you open your pic in pb. you click the direct link, it will say copied. then come here. in the reply window the 3 rd icon from the right is for pics, paste it in the url tab of the small window that will open up. uncheck the checked box to make the pic large.

Or to be simpler, just enlarge the image in photobucket, right click, copy image, come back to forum, right click, and paste.
Sorry about your car man, that sucks.

i just saw the p/p was leaking some, yeah being it looks like the wires are more cooked on the pass side the hose could have blown and sprayed on the exhaust and bam. BBQ.

Thanks for the lesson about the picture posting, thank you! haha! Also, thanks for the sympathy people. BIG kick in the balls when something like this happens. I guess on a positive note... If they dont write it off, I'll get a bunch of new **** put on my car and they can fix the power steering leak. But on the other hand i just hope if its written off that they don't offer me $3,000 or something insulting like that cause then ill go from a reasonable Ginger to the typical Angry Soulless Ginger!:th_devil: My insurance company screwed me once so I'm nervous.
