• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Re: help after cam install :(

Ok...let's get this back under control.

I listened to all the vids. Only thing I hear are loud injectors (normal), noisy pullies (check those) and various other normal engine noises.

You do not have rod knock. Anyone that tells you that has never experienced it or is totally guessing. Ask anyone that has sent a motor to bearing heaven...rod knock is not something you can mistake. If you have a question about bearings, test the oil pressure with the motor warm.

Since you are all over the place on what you are telling us.. grinding/rubbing...whatever. Don't even pull the HB, look at the crank sensor shield and see if it's rubbing. Easy visual check. If that appears good, then drain the coolant off and pull the front cover. It's also easy in the car. Buy an inspection mirror and a good light. You will want them. Likely the new tensioner bit the dust. It's an 8mm bolt and a couple second install. I can walk you through an easy install with it.

Once you pull the timing cover, plan on draining the oil and replacing it before you restart. It's common for some coolant to fall in the pan.

This is a minor hiccup and overall it's running good. Don't run it much more before you find this issue...because if somethings going bad and getting worse..you don't want to kill the motor over something simple and easy.

Re: help after cam install :(

i think bill is on the right track here. when i spun a bearing on my low end it was LOUD and my car DID NOT run unless i peddled the crap out of it.

i also agree that you shouldnt be driving it.
