Bonneville died 4 miles from home

I reread the clubgp chain post and they said all JP chains but only talked about the doubles failing. I had read that post couple years ago and thought I was safe with a single.

Got low mileage L26 motor on engine stand and apart. Timing chain question? Stock chain on L26 is 1 degree off of L67/L32 supercharged, is this advanced or retarted? Do I change it to L67 sprockets or keep the L26 sprockets and just buy a new GM chain? What is different the Cam gear, Crank gear or both?

Second question.

Im putting on my Speed daddy headers that have been on shelf for 1-1/2 years. I've got the new clamps but have read that the flex may or may not fail. What's the consensus, do I replace it now?

NOOOO replace the flex NOW you will have major ticking if you dont. And if you need any help with anything, or a tune, us locals can help you out.

and i have a local guy that wants a IC from you

Sounds like the flex is going to get replaced while everthing is out. Definitely going to need a new tune when done where abouts in Pittsburgh are you? You had the Gold Bonneville at Pittsburgh Race Park fall 2010 right? I'm going to put on a 3.5 pulley to start.

I've got 1 intercooler sitting on the shelf behind parts from 2 engines!

My flex isn't ticking yet and i've had them on for about 8 months or so. If you want to save some cash just wrap it in header wrap and it'll never tick.

The SD flexes are single wall like SLP's. They do tick, it's livable, but why?

He's the white 2003 SSEi that was probably at that location.

How about the timing chain? Should I run the l26 cam sprocket which is 1 degree different then the l67?

Not really a big difference when you are doing all the tuning and can remove or add that degree to the pcm. I've never looked into it or paid attention. Just my idea thought.

Cometic head gasket questions?

is the left the front of the motor?
does the arrow point to the water pump?

If the motor were mounted longitudinally with teh waterpump to the front, yes the driverside is the left.
Yes the arrow points to the front or waterpump.

Make sure you copper rtv spray those babies before installing.

Ahhhhhhh, I have arrows to the water pump but the gasket with a L like mark is on the right. Is there a tip and bottom to the gaskets?

Did you put the head studs in all the way or by hand? Make sure the header flange isn't hitting. I don't typically have issues like that with them. I do lots of wiggling and gentle tapping with a rubber mallet to seat the crossover/front mani.

Put studs in with T-handle and backed out so they are only hand tight. Copper spray on gaskets 2 sides and teflon sealer on threads into block. Arp lube on washers and threads for nuts.

I will try the headers again. Sometimes it is best to call it quits and come back later.

Is there a left and right gasket? Is that L mark a left indicator?

Snapped of the oil pressure sending unit off, It had 3 prongs. (03 ssei) The donor motor 06 gp has same connector but only 2 prongs. Prongs line up but only 2. Will it work? Advance gives same part number autozone does not.
