bobber project, take 2: '79 XS650

I got mine out in the snow this year and tried to pull a sled with it for the kids. It didn't work out very well lol

Considering you have no shield over the rear tire, riding in the rain or snow would be crazy stupid. I don't blame you, that tire would sling **** all over you while driving. Not to mention as it sits I'd imagine the bike is light as hell and would be problematic in slippery conditions. I have driven heavy bikes in the rain before but 1 time on a light one in the rain and never again. F that ****.

now this is some customer service...

This is kind of a long shot, but I figured I'd give it a whirl...

I ordered a set of velocity stacks for my CB750 ('75 K model) a while back (winter time, not sure if I have the packing slip anymore). However, I ran into issues with the guy who was building my frame and ended up ditching the project. Along the way I picked up a '79 XS650 which is now my current project bike.

Looked back through my paypal account I made a payment on January 11th, 2013 for $[edit] to you with transaction ID# [edit].

I would love some velocity stacks for my XS, which has the BS38 carbs on it. Unfortuneately the CB750 velocity stacks aren't even close to the same size as the carbs on my bike now. They are a machined, old school flare set of stacks. I have removed one stack from the bubble wrap in order to place it on the CB750 carbs and see how cool they look. I never even tightened down the set screw.

Can I do some form of exchange for a set for my XS? I understand if the answer is no, but I figured I would ask. I'd want the same style (machined, old school flare), just made to fit the BS38 carbs on the XS.

Hi Nick, good to hear from you again. Bummer on the CB750 frame!

We can definitely do an exchange, no problem. Just send the CB750 stacks back to us, and we'll get another set made up for '79 XS650, BS38's, Old School Flare, machine finish. We'll pay the shipping cost of $6.30 for the new set, since they're $5.00 cheaper($65 for a set of 2) than the CB750 stacks($70 for a set of 4). The only cost to you will be the return shipping of the CB750's. Just let us know if that sounds good to you.

i LOVE companies that are good about their products and willing to work with the customer, which is getting harder and harder to find nowadays.

the XS is getting some velocity stacks!

^^^ That is great news! Smidge of faith restored in human race when I hear stories like this. Glad they are working with you and you don't have to start from scratch with everything.

of course.

i just mailed them out over my lunch hour. they machine them all from scratch so i won't get them immediately.

I hate bike threads. It makes me miss riding. I told my wife if I get another bike she'll have to inject my hands like Clay on SOA.

this bike would do that, haha. it vibrates you to death while you're on it. it's really only comfortable for like 20-30 miles at a time.
