I drive a 2dr gt and i get terrible gas mileage im probably only getting 18 highway 12 in town rough est but i dont put my foot into everywhere i go. but still every review ive read said these cars get great gas mileage but mine gets horrible mpg. my car has rebuilt motor 90,xxx miles. if that makes any difference but could anyone please tell me what i can do to improve my mpg's i want a to get 28 highway and 18 in city if thats possible. Thanx for the help

Air Filter
Fuel Filter
New Spark Plugs
New Spark Plug Wires
New o2 Sensor (just front)

Try those...

U have any mods done? Dont do the k&n unless u want to have to replace your mass air flow sensor. Give it a tune up like never b4. Check your pcv valve to.

Thats BS. That only happens if you over oil the filter. Even then, its not that easy to do...

I’ll assume you have done your regular maintenance and that you aren’t popping any codes.
These are listed in order of effect not ease or cost.
1) Replace your oxygen sensor just the front one, NOT the one after the catalytic converter. Imo don’t use Bosch, any another brand will do. This sensor is HUGE factor in getting good mpg.
2) Replace your spark plugs.
3) Ensure proper tire inflation. Run at least 30 psi, I personally aim for 35 psi in non-winter months.
Also, I totally second Matt. I have used K&N filters in all my vehicles, zero MAF failures. But they won’t help fuel economy (maybe 1%) in our cars, they will help acceleration.:th_biggrin2:
If these don’t work come back and we’ll go to level 2

the best thing to help your highway MPG's would be to find someone who can tune, or get a mail order tune with the cruise cells adjusted on the PCM. I would also go for a seafoam treatment through gas, oil, and intake just to help clean it out. New plugs and wires will help if they haven't been changed in a while. I would wait to do the 02 sensor until last, if it is still not getting what you want for MPG's within reason. All of the things on Blue's list make sense. Do you have anything to scan with or do you have any codes as of right now?

Ok check everything out i had to change out the O2 sensor about a month ago not to sure which one though. I commute 45 miles everyweekend to see my mom its 90 miles round trip but I heard these cars great on gas thats why I kinda miss my old ford focus...lol
