Best winter only tires.

K fellas I need word on some rubber for the upcoming slush fest.
I am looking at just winter only rubber for my old wheels.
Currently thinking about the Bridgestone Blizzaks.....cheap and good from what I remember.
I wanna be prepared....so let me know when you all pull yourself away from summer picnics

I have had Firestone Winterforce tires for the last 5 winters and they've been awesome on my 06 GT. I will get at least one more winter out of them so figure about 40,000 miles out of the set.

Try and find some nitto snow tires, they are normally always cheaper than blizzaks as they are top of the line.

We get people at my work saying the nitto snow tires are the better value and work better, but that last part in just an opinion on their part.

Also the nitto tires are NOT directional, thus rotating tires can be done like normal and improve the life of the tire.

i bought a set of used wheels and snow tires. im not even sure what brand they are off the top of my head, but they are 1/2 used and made the car actually move in snow. night and day difference.

so i say any snow tire is better then a all season tire.

This thread is helping me, im torn between snow tires and some cheap wheels or some nice all seasons. Its blows because I'm going to need new tires before winter and I can't avoid it.

Also fk winter, after this last one I hate the north.

I am definitely going old school with winter only tires.
Found some Blizzak WS70s on the rack for 109 each plus 65 shipping.

troll craigslist for snow tires and wheels used. its what i did.

that way it dont matter if they are 16, or 17 wheels they are now winter, as long as you can live with them for a few months out of the year.

snow tires are soft, so you dont want to be hot rodding around town, doing burn outs or any of that as they will wear out so fast.

if you do get stuck in the snow, do not spint the tire and make it smoke. bye bye tire faster then you think.

i got these for $175. ill get another season out of them easy, then ill need to start looking for new snow tires. they were kinda ugle when i got them, so cleaned them up and dipped them black. very soon i want to panting them some shade of silver. the black is too much.

Those make your car look really ghetto and I like the black look. I'll have to troll CL come winter time. Also thinking of getting an underbody coating put on the rockers and inside them so it won't rust as fast.

MURDER REGAL. i hate it. but for the price, i was like i can live with these. i want to paint them like an Aluminum silver i think would do ok.

Unless you are racing, almost any snow tire will wow you. I got some Wanli snow tires, $50 each brand new. Not as good as a Blizzak, but they do the job and then some.

What's a Wanli:)
Those look to be good grabbers, where did you get them?
They have to be alright to survive Canadian winters

I have had blizzaks on my Prixs since 2008. Havent tried another brand because I love how the car controls with them. Awful road conditions up here and I have never gotten stuck.

I bought Goodyear Ultra grips for this past winter and they worked really well. Buffalo winters are not easy and these handled all the snow real well. I couldn't slide my car around corners at all.

General Altimax Arctics on my gtp and my gf's. Very good snow tire and ours were actually quiet. Good tread wear also
