Best Caliper Paint?

Whats a really good caliper paint? I tried that Duplicolor caliper paint. Preped the surface like the directions said and it wouldnt stick to my F-body caliper brackets it just rubbed off with my finger nail after setting for 5 days :th_scratchhead:, go figure. The only surface the paint stuck to was the aluminum F-Body calipers. What does everyone else use?

Spray it on, let it set, put them on and then let the b*tches bake with the heat of the brakes and you'll be good to go for years.
 
The "brush on" type of caliper paint seems to be the best, but prep work is the key. The calipers have to be damn clean for anything to stick well. NO break dust can be left behind.

Might as well remove, take apart and have them blasted clean to do the job right...while they are apart...might as well have them powder coated, while they are apart...might as well have new parts installed in them before they go back on.

But on a budget, and if you like touching the chipped or fading paint up all the time, then find you some high temp. paint, and use that. The prep work, and the quality of paint if what makes or breaks the final result.

I spray paint my brake rotor "hats" to avoid rust spots, and ugly rotors showing through my wheels. I prepped well, and used nothing more than flat black BBQ grill spray paint from O'Reillys. The paint holds up well, and makes my red calipers stand out even more.

Yeah, but if it can hold up to plastic flexing and bending all the time it has to be some durable paint.

My 3-4 year old paint-

Kinda dirty, but otherwise really good for being that old and considering how many times they've been taken off and banged up.

Well I have to say 1. I would have never thought it would have held up to the heat and 2. I would have never thought of it let alone use it.
 


Krylon Fusion you say. Well I'll be damned, I thought that it was mandatory to use high temp paint. Guess not, good info Streetwolf.
 
I've had good results with G2 caliper paint.

It's roughly $35 a color. It's an epoxy paint. You add a catalyst and you have about an hr to paint. It comes with a lifetime warranty. Also they'll custom mix colors, but it'll cost something like $130.

Here it is roughly two years later. I don't drive in the winter.

What did you use for the GTP emblems on the calipers??? They're so shiny
 
Thanks, they're chrome vinyl. I have a shop local that makes all this stuff for me, the brake caliper decals, my windshield banner, my custom 'NX' labels, everything.
 


Ehhh.... that depends on who buys them really. I got mine for free, but it'll probably be around $5

Same lady I was going to use to make the GPF t-shirts and stuff when I offered.

yea I always wondered what the chrome vinyl looked like, and I think red caliper with some GTP chrome symbols on my Gulf blue would be awesome looking. I also want to get a GRANDPRIXFORUMS.NET sticker across the top on my front windshield. I think that'd be sweet, but probably in white
 
I can get basically anything you can imagen made into a vinyl sticker or stuck onto a T-Shirt. She's good at what she does. Although anything regarding Grand Prix Forums I will have to get officially granted permission to do. Which I have yet to be given, still.

Vinyl is amazingly tough too, take in mind those chrome stickers have been on those calipers as long as the paint and still look that good, and I never hand clean any of it.

Cool deal, let me know something when you get it figured out and I'll stop by there and have her make it all and give you a price.
 


As already suggested G2 paint is my caliper paint of choice. I have applied it to two vehicles and it works great, very durable and has great color. It is around $40 which is a bit expensive but its lasted for 30k+ miles on my other car.

If you do use this paint make sure for one your calipers are as clean and rust free as possible, use at least two coats, and do all the breaks on the same day. The paint turns to rubber after about 8 hours.

thanx for the advice, i went ahead and got the G2 paint from stage 3 performance for like $35 and free shipping. Hoping it will come out well. I was gonna use the plastic paint like street said, its way cheaper, but im worried about the salt in winter time up here in Jersey.
 
yea man, people living near the water get their cars torn up from the salt in the air, my car was in virginia beach when i bought it took a lot to clean out the bottom. Once I get the oil pan gasket on I will do that coat on the bottom of my car to prevent rust and other stuff
