Bad oil leak

Hi,I have not posted in quite a while,but i REALLY need some help.

I drove my car (2000,3.1) to the gas station and back one morning,and when i looked out the window an hour or two later,i noticed a nice dark line going down my street!
After more investigation i noticed it was oil coming from my engine,i figured out the source : front of the block,near a sensor.

I think it is an oil pressure sensor. The sensor is plugged into an extension,that fits into the side of the engine. Where this 'extension piece' fits onto the engine is where the oil is coming from, and when i start the engine it dumps out very fast.

I just started a new job, I need more solid transportation than co-workers, and public transportation. Money is tight, so a self-fix would be my best interest. Any information is greatly appriciated!!!! Thanks in advance.
 


is the extension plugged in all the way, and does it have any holes? sounds like you could just replace piece so it wouldn't leak as bad if at all.
 
a pic of where exactly the sensor is would be helpful or a better description. It sounds to me like you are describing the low oil level sensor. Is there a hole there where a bolt should be holding the sensor housing in? is it a leaky or cracked housing on the seal? More info please. If it is the sensor, drain all of the oil, get a different sensor from the junkyard and install it. If it needs a bolt to hold it in place, buy a bolt and install it.
 
You should be able to fix it or at least get the part and take it to a garage to save some money. A pic would be great, then we can narrow in on the issue and diagnose it correctly for you. If an oil pressure sensro, that is not a big deal at all but the leaking oil naturally is as you know.
 


Remove the part and head to the parts store. Then match it up with a new one.

Likely as you mention it's the oil pressure or oil level sensor. The dumping part leads more to the pressure sensor. Probably about a $30 fix.
