Bad Habits

Trying to quit bad habits is horrible. Mentally I guess more than anything but when you get used to a routine and its something you do every day multiple times to just simply stop is a bit nerve racking.

Anyone got any good tips on quiting bad habits?

everytime you think about doing your bad habit just masturbate. Unless your bad habit is masturbating then just keep doing it.

Change the routine of your day if possible. Obviously leave work and sleep in place. Change the rest of what you do daily and it'll shake up your routine.

watch this movie, cats eye....stop on by quitters inc....it works lol

fast forward to 5:30, thats where the fun starts lol

Lol wow.

It's not trying to stop smoking.... Cigarettes anyways. Something I'd love to quit due to cost but in many ways calms me down when I get pissed off or have just had a rough day.

The main situation is fiancee is now pregnant with our 2nd kid. Now she isnt drinking or smoking her cigarettes and expects me to stop because it's not "fair".

No one should smoke around children at all anyway it's "not fair" to the child who has no say in it.

2-1/2 pack of Malboro's a day habit... Challenged to a game of 1/2 court B-Ball and almost passed out, quit on the spot, cold turkey!

That was 20+ years ago. Really, it's just mind over matter!

You really want to quit? Go to a Hospice or Cancer ward in a hospital, take a good look around... You'll quit in a split second. Make no mistake about it, there are some who've smoked for ever and not missed a beat, but why chance it.

Look at it this way, if you knew you were going to leave this earth tomorrow, or if you did this one simple thing, be given an extra day... Would you do that simple thing?

Quit smoking, you'll be happy you did.

Other than that, no bad habits I can think of... Lolz

O.o

Use to work but now is creating a chronic problem for you ...Doesn't sound very relaxing to me. Maybe save it for a boys night out, that way your fiance will get what she wants and you'll will get your little reward. Look at it like you are modding your car.

Give or sell all related items to a friend and stop carrying cash. If the woman's so interested in you quitting, there's things she can do to help you relax. I've read about them.
Also, maybe give up the accessory activity in favor of something else. If you always sat down and watched TV, you'll want it when you sit down to watch TV; maybe cook something, knit, get out to the pool hall, gym, play a video game, read a book...

rperry435,

For the most part, one has to make change for themselves and not for others. Easier said than done, and old habits either die hard or just linger.

However if you have trouble finding the will to do so, I'd suggest to carry a picture of your family with you everywhere you go and when you get the "urge" pull that out and tell yourself out loud "This is why I must stop...if not for me, then for them".

Half the battle is getting sober, the other half is staying that way. You CAN do it.

If you need additional support I would be happy to offer further advice.
