hey, 2002 GT. changin plugs and wires tommorow. got auto light platnum 606's. whats the gap that i use for the plugs? help me out plz. thanks guys.
 


its a GT, it wont matter.

Boosted cars should have copper.

Copper performs the best, just doesnt last as long.

If you're lazy, put iridiums in there for all I care. If you care about the performance that isn't there to start with, put coppers in there. (Or if you're cheap :D)

Yet the last batch came from the factory with iridium plugs. Hmm?


Personally, when I have to do the plugs on my 06, i'll be putting iridiums in. And yes, i'm lazy. especially when it comes to the royal PITA it is to change the plugs on these cars.
However in bluegtp's defense Copper has a lower electrical resistance and higher conductivity than both Pt and Ir. So technically a copper plug should fire hotter when in spec.

After putting coppers in my base '06, it ran better (probably just because of new plugs - changed at 65k), but to be honest, the itty bitty improvement isn't worth the hassle to me to do it often. Leaving them in there for 100k seems silly, but changing them all the time isn't any fun. I'd rather got AC Delco and change em every 50k.
 
my 06 has 24K on it so far, so i've got a while to go :) I'll probably wait until 100K or when it starts running rough. Did I mention i'm lazy? :)

I used to leave the sparkplugs in my 350 until it'd start missing or failed emissions. :)

At 65k, those plug wires were a ***** to get out. That aluminum sure knows how to stick to steel. On the other hand, you'll need to replace the wires at 100k anyway and can just rip them out like a neanderthal.
 
Guys... 3/8 ratchet, 3" extension, 5/8 spark plug socket and your plugs will all come out easy as pie without rocking the engine at all. 20 mins tops.

For slightly better performance, its worth 20 mins every 10-20K

huh.,...well i guess i didnt get that memo, it took me a half hour just for plugs 2,4,6. the fronts are easy..but i had to roll the motor for the back, then snapped one while tryin to get the torque wrench on it cuz the O2 sensor was in the way. how do u get them out without rolling the motor dude?...i didnt think it was possible,.lol
 
Changing plugs is easy. The hardest part is getting the stuck wires off the plugs.

Getting the plugs out is easy, its those exhaust shields that tore up my hands so bad. Almost needed stitches.

Being 6'4 helps to reach the back plugs. No engine rocking needed.
