Apparently engine was rattling, then died.



Maybe this is the problem... LOL.

Didn't even see it until I had the engine half out. Never seen block carnage like this haha.
 
That would def. explain it, lol... What you have there is the dreaded "vented block" mod. Have you taken the pan off of it yet? Just curious to see what the rest looks like now. From the location on the block it looks like #5 let loose.
 
I didn't even bother taking the pan off. The engine is out sitting on my parents lawn. Lol. I'm picking up the new engine within the next few days. If I have some time, I'll take off the oil pan and take a look.
 
I wish I heard the "rattle" hahaha.

What blows my mind is the mechanic who looked at it diagnosed it with failed liters. LOL.
