Ive been looking into going into the airforce so i can get some schooling and make some money. anyone in there? how is it? what do you do all day?

I'm not in, but I will be.

No one can answer that question, because everyone has a different job, all depends on what you want to go in for.

The one thing everyone does have to get ready for, and go through is BMT... (basic military training) which is 8 weeks long, and isn't a joke.

check out United States Air Force - AirForce.com

They have a lot of good info, and some videos on BMT, ect.

Also, you have to get good scores on the "ASVAB" and I don't mean just pass, the better your scores, the more likely you can get what YOU want, and better pay.

I'm going to be joining as Security Forces.

Check out StudyGuideZone.com for the ASVAB study guide. There is a good book to get too for it, 30 days to ASVAB.

Good luck!

lets try this again. i cant seem to access the last thread now. so is anyone here in it? how do you like it. whats it like. what do you do? im kind aleaning toward going in soon

The asvab is no joke it seems pretty easy then you get into some difficult stuff
When i did mine in 98 I got 68 on the test and my line scores were all over 90
I went in with out my highschool diploma so i had to score higher then average

Basic training isnt actually that bad
Do what your told, dont eat desserts or drink soda, learn all basics to marching Get used to them triing to break you down and have fun with it
I went through army basic but they are basically the same..
Also be ready for a bunch of mocho bs to deal with when i went through there was a lot of wanna be tough guys Along with some gomer piles

Just keep it in your head on what your there for and think of it as a 8 week crash course work out

Oh and dont piss off your drill sargents I was on detail for 3 weeks every night i would get up at 11pm and buff floors till 3 am...

I took a pre-screen ASVAB today and did good enough on it for them to take me down to Milwaukee to take the real one and my health test.

I did great on the pre-test but the algebra on it is tough.

FREE ASVAB Test Preparation - Short and Full-length Practice Tests, Study Guide and Tips

Is a good place to get a real look on what the asvabs is about.

I haven't been in school since 06, graduated, and I didn't remember any of the math..

These are my scores from the full length test.

It's not that BMT is "hard" but you need to be in shape, and fit, minimum push-ups are 45 and 50 sit-ups in 1 minute, and a 1.5 mile run in 11:57.

The army and airforce BMT I believe is different, the thing about the airforce BMT is you are going be tested on your attention span, how well you pay attention to detail, and if you can handle it.

Yea i went in a little outta shap but as long as you stick to it and push your self it isnt that bad my first 2 mile run the 3rd day we were there was like 18 minutes after a mile i was done my final pt 2 mile was 13min
A set of push up bars can be your best friend
pushups were always where i struggled cause i have a slightly messed up shoulder from a auto accident
The worst part of basic for me was actually the lactures they crank the heat up and lights dim dont close your eyes though ar you will wake up on ur arse we were literally poking/pinching/kicking each other to stay up

What are you talking about? Lol.

lmao we had our personal drawers if there was a lock on it we were safe if it was unlocked hell broke loose if they found stuff
In basic i was the "salesman" anything you wanted I got I had a friend who would drop me off stuff from off base and had easy access to the px from mountain dew to playboys i was your man lol i made over 2500 bucks just selling crap while i was there

The AF is great im in and have been for about a year and a half its the life trust me just do what your told and do it good thats about it. Any questions that you have??

I have been in almost 8 years now, I love my job (Jet Engine Mechanic). I have gotten to see some pretty cool places. When i went threw basic a while ago it was a joke, keep to your self, do what your told and its cake. I will most likely stay in till i can retire at 20 years in. The pay is decent, the benefits are good, getting 30 days of vacation starting your first year in is unheard of anywhere else. My favorite this is all the people you meet, you will make friends you will have the rest of your life.

Do it go in the Air Force its a blast my job is traffic management we ship everything and anything i work from 730 in the morning to 330 in the afternoon. Weekends off and holidays its great career if you wanna make it one pay is good too
