• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Anyone else think debadging is stupid

i debadged my grand prix. looks a lot better now IMO. however, i don't have the heart to take the SS badges off the cobalt. i paid damn good money for that, and i will not be mistaken for a base model. thought about removing the GM badges from the sides and cleaning up the trunk though. if i could move the SS badge over to the left of the trunk lid, i'd take the "cobalt" lettering off, and maybe move the "turbocharged" badge to underneather the SS badge. and thank god there's no dealer bullsh!t on it. that would have been the first stuff to come off

I personally love my gtp badges. I would never take them off. If I had a gt or something maybe but just the design of the gtp badge is very nice looking. Looks really good with overlays. I DID however debadge the trunk. Looks much better now. Thought about putting a GTP badge back there but decided that would look to cluttered.

Ughhh ok.... I personally like debadged cars better. It does make for an extremely more clean and smooth look. I debadged my buddies ss balt and it looks a lot better. And you can still tell its an ss. I guess it also depends how you'd look at the car afterwards. If you think of it as a sleeper in a sense that nobody knows what it really is until you let them know.
For example, most times if im racing some car at a light, i notice the passenger or driver, depending on what side of their car I am on, looking to see if I have a gtp or gt badge. So I took em off and I'll let them find out.

I didn't mean to offend anyone. Just seeing if anyone shared my opinion. It seems like debadging is one of the first things that people say they are doing, or that is recommended for people to do on this forum. My comment about making the car look cheap, and what made me start this thread to begin with, was when I saw a Grand Prix in town that had everything taken off. I just noticed it as it went by, but it looked like all the badges and the door trim and everything taken off. As it went by I just thought "man that looks cheap". I can see taking off dealer stickers for sure, and like I said before the GM on the newer ones, and maybe even the 3800 on the fender. I don't street race, so i don't have an interest in making the GXP a "sleeper" to sucker anyone into a race. There's plenty of signs to give that away anyway. I think sometimes people mistake "anything different than stock" for "cool". Again... just my opinion

I can see where you are comin from. I figured id do it just to see how it looked. Plus with 3M double sided tape and a little time they can be reapplied and look like nothing was ever changed. :D

Amazing that it bothers you that much.

It doesn't bother me that much. Just noticed the car and said, of that's what debadging looks like. I don't like it. I'm going to see what everyone else thinks, and here we are. Seems like most people like it, and that is just fine with me.

Personally if I could, I'd remove and fill in all the pontiac emblems and badges on the car if I had the money to do it. (fill and paint)

Im thinking about updating my pontiac symbol on the nose. maybe to the new g8 one or the g6 badge. I tried to yank my sisters off but she slapped the childhood outta me.

reading through makes me think, ive had a bunch of kids call my car grand am adn such, hell my uncle calls it a gto cause my brothers car is a gto and he calls it a grand am. Some ppl like to say things to piss you off. just remeber jealousy is just love and hate for something.

I took off the "grand prix" and dealership badges off the back, centered "Supercharged" on the trunk. Still can't make up my mind if I want to remove the door "GTP" emblems and the door ding guards or not. Love the look but alot of work filling in the hole and part of me still likes having the GTP emblem. There is alot of silver GTs in the area, few GTPs
