• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Any tips for repainting fender?

Silver is a color that requires lots of blend out space due to the high metallic content.

If the issue goes clear out to the edges of the fender, that means blending onto adjacent panels. So a pro repair may be too high to justify. Even professionally done, the match is never perfect on silver.

So- get an estimate at the shop you like. Then get some DC in the right color and see how close it is. Then decide if you want to tackle it. Spray can gloss and durability don't compare to refinish paint but it may be sufficient if you can buff.

So a lot of it depends... do you have a gun and thinner and buffer and all that already? If not, my money says you'll be doing the Scottydogg approach in the end. Heck I did it on my bumper but thats black. A friend did a bumper repair on his rice burner with Ford Argent grille paint. So you never know until you try.

Alson remember paint fades so fresh paint will stand out if not properly blended a Junk yard fend is the same age and has faded so it will match better took about 45 minutes to swap fenders

I went to bone yard found a perfect match for $15.00 with tax it was cheaper and easier to swap
This right here is the winning method for sure. Done that with a door on my GT and made out like a bandit. But here again mine was black. It could be tough to find a JY fender that has'nt been repainted. If it or your car has had previous paint work, the match may only be approximate.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Junkyards where I live fenders cost about 50 bucks.
I'm looking to take the scotty approach lol. Amazingly my paint is in pretty good shape. Car was garaged most of its life. I have a buffer as well.

whats wrong with the paint job on it now? maybe you can fix it up with just new clear coat? sand it up some re clear it.

fix what you got then. pin some paint in the scratch then wet sand it smooth, then re clear the whole fender.

talk about cheap, thats gonna run you like 20 or less in products. depending on what you already have on hand.

Besides the fender, the 4x4 status and the pinstripe and black spoiler.. Yea it needs to be parted out hahahaha.

thats in rough shape for sure. (the fender that is) and that pin strip. please just remove it all.

the top would need new paint where its missing.

id strip that pin striping off ( the whole car) and re paint the whole fender. your fender dont really seem to match as it is right now either.

either pin that scratch in with paint or use some red filler to fill it up.
