Any tips for really dirty wheels? (pics)

I just got a 99 GTP and the wheels are pretty rough. From what I gather they're polished/clear-coated and the best solution may be to strip them and polish. Can anyone suggest a product I can use to clean them up so they look better until Spring? Will something like a powerball work? Some of the damage looks like the wheels are being eaten into, and a built of buildup and looks like it's going to take a lot of work to get off.

Damn those are worse than my snowflakes.

Yeah there is no way you are going to scrub any of that **** off, that one pic you can see where the chrome is peeling off the rim. They need to be blasted and redone.

You can scrub off the brake dust and polish them with metal polish. Mine looked about like that when I got the car but now they are good 10 footers.

Since the wheels are clear coated you can't do much with a powerball or metal polish. I say strip the clear off, and re-finish them after sanding away all of the bubbles and imperfections.
