So My car was running fine drove it to work. go off work tried to start the car, it starts up then immediately dies. Continue to try and start it, does turn over and everything seems to work fine but wont start. So gas was low, its a new to me car so I thought maby I ran it out of gas. Put gas in it, still nothing, just cranks. I really need this car for work lol any ideas? or where to start?

Sure sorry about that. Its a 93 grand prix . 3.1 se. So i m not sure if I found the maf sensor or not. I'm sure I found the tps but everything that looked like a maf sensor in photos didn't seem to match anything I could see around the intake.

I cant tell if there is sound coming from the fuel pump, and I don't have anyone around to help with it unfortunately. I guess I should check fuel pump fuse, relay and possibly try starting fluid in the intake?

Ok..in the tube between the throttle body and the airbox is the maf sensor. It'll have three wires going to it. The air intake temp sensor has two wires.

Yeah..you can check by using some flammable something in the intake. It's not like you can reach your fuel pressure schrader on that motor.

So if this photo shows up there is no plug or anything with 3 wires only 2 wires. I sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake and it didn't start so mabey not fuel system?

I swapped out the fuel relay and checked all the fuses and all seems ok. It does look like the pressure valve is accessable on the pass side. Should that be the next step?

Pre 94 do not have MAF, Id have someone listen for fuel pump when you turn the key to run position. Have you checked fuel pressure? spark? any thrown codes? OBD 1 i think there a paperclip trick u can do.

It was giving 3 codes for exhaust recirulation 71 72 73 I think. Which was the 3 solenoids. Egr valve I think

Those EGRs on the older 3.1 are a pain in my ass, Ive had only grief with them. I dont think the EGR is your problem, even if its stuck closed or open it should still start. Have you checked for spark?

they do sell a spark tester thing, you put it in the plug wire and if it flashes its getting spark.

or you can try to rest the spark plugs electrode on metal somewhere on the engine where you can see it while cranking the engine. once again if you see it sparking, blue spark is best, your good.
