Amping speakers?



it allows you to run multiple amps. For instance you would run your main 0 gauge from the car battery to the distribution block which is in the trunk, and you could run two, three or more power wires off of that so you can run multiple amps off of the main power wire. You got make sure that your main power wire is rated for the power your gonna have for all the amps combined tho, meaning dont run no 8 gauge crap to a distribution block then run multiple amps off of 8 gauge. The bigger the better is ideal for that main power coming from the battery, i always go 0 gauge
 
It is like the same concept is a cable spliter, so you can run multiple tv's of of one cable coming into the area
 
You are making it too complicated.

First, get a nice head unit to your liking, and finish installing it. Here is the one I got: Kenwood Excelon KDC-X896 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

NEXT:
Buy one 4-channel amplifier, power the front speakers with channels 1 & 2. Bridge channels 3 & 4, to power your subwoofer.
You will need 2 pairs of RCA cables to connect from the "front" channel of the headunit to the amp, and the "sub" channel of the HU to the amp.
To power the amplifier, you will need at least a 4 gauge amplifier wiring kit, so get that all wired up, connect your speakers and you are ready to go!

Yes it can be pretty complicated, but it is worth it!

Here is the 4-channel amplifier I have (I chose it because of the high output especially at 4 ohms bridged, and for the fact that it is CEA-2006 compliant): Hifonics ZRX1000.4 1000W RMS, 4-Ch Class A/B Zeus Series Car Amp

PS you don't need to amplify the rear speakers at this point. Just replace the speakers for now and amp the fronts and sub.
 
Not at all. You would never finish installing a headunit then tear it back out to run rca's to it. Do it all at the same time if your planning on running an amp.
 


I plan on amping all six speakers to my 4 channel amp. The rear 6x9's have 4" speakers next to them, so is there a way to connect those two to one channel? My speakers will have enough bass to where I wouldn't need a sub.

Hmm, I honestly wouldn't bother amping the 4" speakers because there is gonna be quite a power handling difference between the 6x9's and the 4" ones. Switch out all the speakers, power your 5.25's and your 6x9's, and leave the 4" ones on stock wiring, unless they don't work on stock wiring. I guess you could power both on one channel, but I'm not sure what the overall impedance would be on your amp, so getting the right amount of power to your 6x9's will be tough. (You can try it though).

I know, I was just trying to break it down for him. When I put my new HU in, I ran the two pairs of RCA's through to the trunk so they were ready when I was ready to get my amp. (Of course the ones I used were really ****ty and I need to tear it out and put better ones in. Question: Would really ****ty RCA's cause a slight delay for my sub?)
 
I figured that what you ment, i just didn't want him installing the cd player thinking it's easy to come back and hook up the rca's. You def. want to do it all at the same time if you can
 
Ya you will prolly blow the 4" speakers cause the 6x9's can handle a hell of alot more the 4" speakers, or it will greatly underpowered cause your gonne have to not run as much power to them, and then your not getting the full potential out of your speakers.
 


If you are replacing the 6x9 with new aftermarket speakers then I wouldn't even bother hooking up the 4" speakers again. The new 6x9 will probably drown them out anyway.
 
It depends on the rms rating of the speakers. I have my 4" and 6x9" both rated to 35w rms wired in series and powered by a 75w rms amp.
 


it doe-sent take much time or effort to gain access to the head unit....seams like its easier to install that make shure it works as it should trouble shoot it if need be then go back and wire in all the speakers and amp at once wile the interior is apart. just my 2 cents
 
If you install a head unit like the pros, it should be damn near impossible to pull that **** out. Not literally, but it should take some work to pull it back out

I second this. It is the best plan if you want to run power to all 6 speakers. Just use the stock power coming from your new HU. Should be enough to pump those little speakers, although I would look into a set of bass-blockers so your not feeding the lows into those little guys using like 15w RMS from your HU, that would be bad news.
