Aj's CompG build progress thread (car has a new owner!)

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

Believe me, the junkyard is always an option.
The transmission I was running previously while my Triple Edge Performance unit was being built was taken from the yard.
I never see any G5s or G6s there though.
Only old Grand Ams and Grand Prixs mostly.

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

Inferno front lip is installed. I had good results with the 3m tape PFYC provided with the lip, but I also used zip ties around the front going through the tab slots in the bumper. They will both be painted later at some point.

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

Out of curiosity where did you order the bumper and what was wrong with your old one?

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

See 1st post, haha. My factory bumper cracked along the passenger side after I hit something.

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

Motor looks real nice and I bet with that intercooler and 2.6 it really hauls arse. I bet that bigger chain in the trans will be needed!

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

Adjusted sprocket final drive in HPTuners today to accommodate for the 2.93 gear ratio change.

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

What did you have to change? I have asked this very thing in multiple threads...in my comp g the drive ratio shows 3.29 so did you change it to 2.93?

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

My bin file is majorly unmapped.
Under speedo, tire size and gear ratio were blank.
I changed the final drive sprocket ratio towards the bottom of that table.
It was 1.0, I changed it to 0.870 and 3rd gear is very close to 1:1

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

It makes me wonder if you could rewire to use a bigger throttle body rather like an ls2

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

That idea has already been whirling around in the back of my mind.
It's possible and may be an option later.
Right now, it would be more important to get an updated bin file from HPT.

Re: Aj's 2013 CompG build progress thread

Did you ever try changing the calculated gear to 2.93? When guys change from 2.93 to 3.29 they just change the calculated gear to 3.69...you like the 2.93 better? TapShift still working? Don't the GXP have 2.93 gears also? Maybe grab a stock bin for GXP
