ABS/Traction Lights On

2002 Grand Prix SE w/ 80k miles. Hey guys my ABS light on the dash came on this morning and stayed on as well as my Traction Off light. I never hit the button. Does anyone know why this happened? Is there anything I can do to further diagnose it? Would the parts store be able to pull codes for an ABS light?

Thanks! :)

Hey guys I just found this on a complaint site via google search-

The ABS light and traction control light would come on and I would lose both functions while the lights were on. When the lights were not on, the ABS would activate even though I did not need them such as when I was backing out of the garage at 5 mph on dry pavement and would brake to stop. Passenger side front always caused the computer diagnostic. Replaced the wheel hub which contains the sensor. Did not fix the problem but it went away after a month or so.

This is the EXACT problem I am having. The ABS will activate backing out of my driveway as well.

I noticed that driving through the rain with excessive puddles, etc, triggers the ABS light randomly, and Im thinking it has to do with those 10 cent connections behind the wheels for the ABS. They may get wet, and after a while they dry out enough to return the car to normal.

I may be way off here, but thats what Ive noticed with my car.

no a parts store wont be able to pull ABS codes. but i can almost guarantee you that you have a cracked/faulty wiring harness. i too have had this same problem

SuperSport, in regards to your signature, try getting a baby in and out of a rear facing carseat in the backseat of a 2 door multiple times every day.... that'll change your mind real quick

usually it is an abs sensor on a single wheel. You will need to take it to a place to have the code read to find out which wheel is causing the issue or if it is the controller itself.
