ABS/Traction/Brake lights on

For a few months now, when backing out of the driveway after first starting the car, my 2005 grand prix would make a buzzing noise up front. (sounded like the ABS system). Now that noise stopped, however, Service Traction Control System, Service Brake System, and Service ABS System lights are on. Both front wheel bearings were replaced 3 months ago (did not impact the buzzing sound but stopped the low speed ABS activation problem I was having). My mid grade Scan tool says "no link", so I cant pull a code. I checked all the fuses I could locate, all seem fine. Car has 115000 and is taken care of well. Any thoughts on where to begin????? Thanks in advance:th_shakinghead1:

The fuse for the cig lighter is the fuse you're looking for. If it's blown you can't pull the code. Could be a bad rear wheel bearing.

uhm gonna go out on a limb here but this happend to me, u got any uxxx codes? if you do start checking resistance from abs moudule and harness.

edit: i cant read lol but no link i would check harness and see if there power to the pins. let me know if a diagram is needed

Both replacements were Timkins. ( autozone). I will check the rears tonight. Just did pads and rotors on the weekend up front, everything appeared ok. That buzzing noise on start-up is what had me puzzled. Really trying to avoid a trip to a shop with a good scan tool, as the diagnosis cost will be the same as a replacement part...........

Pulled all (4) wheels, checked connectors and wiring. All appears to be good, with no obvious damage. WD-40'd the connectors. All wheel bearings seem fine too, with no noise or play. Checked all fuses, OK. (Don't have a cig lighter fuse, but both Aux power outlets are working). Checked and topped off brake fluid. I have seen the ABS light before, such as when I did have a bad wheel bearing, but for all 3 lights to come on at once????????? They will come on in the DIC as soon as I start the car. I can reset them in the DIC while driving, however, the lights in the dash panel remain lit........

i'd put a dab of dielectric grease on the plugs, all of them, at the hubs and the abs module. and plug them in and off a few times to work the grease in.

if all that fails have it scanned so you not tossing parts at it.

Just programmed and loaded updates to my actron, and it pulled some codes. I have a PO520(oil pressure sensor), U1040, U1064, and a U1301. Is there a local fuse not in the fuse blocks????

from what i just got from googleing these code s the U1040 is causing all your problems, i would think your abs module has taken a turn for the worst.

U1040 Code - Car Forums and Automotive Chat

U1064 - Loss of Communications with DIM; what??

Im getting U1301 problem on the computer. So what do I need - JustAnswer

the oil pressure sensor in located by the oil filter, jack car up take off the pass side tire off, reach in with channel lock pliers to remove it, cost 10 to 12 bucks to replace from any parts store.

Any of the u codes needs to be adressed first. Mine did it from day one and I traced it to my module harness, but also had an issue with the alarm system hack job did before me. So your about loose your hair

Finally got back to this problem. After researching all the leads you guys gave me, I decided it must be the EBCM. Found a repair shop, CheapABS in Virginia that will rebuild for 99.00. Will most likely be sending it out. One more question though, while pulling the EBCM off, I noticed (2) relays mounted to the master cylinder support. Do these have anything to do with the ABS?? Nice if one of these was blown instead of the EBCM........

OK. Sent out the EBCM to CheapABS. They checked it prior to rebuilding it, and apparently it's fine. CheapABS charged me 10.00 for the shipping and that's it. Seems like a good outfit to deal with for these issues. As for my original problem, once I get the EBCM back, I'll re-install and then?????????????

Another thing you could try is disconect both battery cables and ground em out for about 15 ideally prolly withing 30 sec but ive heard different. Its worked for me on my liberty. Free thing you know like a reset. GL

i did remember reading somewhere in our 05 there was a wiring issue and chaffing wires are prolly the culprit. i cant figure mine out exaclty but did start to throw codes for my pedal postition sensor and ended up being my intake filter bouncing and hit it. Put me in limp mode wich is a biatch. Zip tied it up and hasnt happend. but it does sound like your in the same boat as me right now.

I've got a 40th anniversary GTP, same problem as what you are having. Replaced both wheel speed sensors, didn't fix it. Replaced wiring harness for wheel speed sensors, didn't fix it.

After that I pretty much just left it alone, the lights have been on for over a year now it doesn't effect the drive but it is annoying to look at.
