ABS self check

bragg3

Description of my problem. When first starting the car and driving it the drivers side front brake would engage for a few seconds and release. It would not do it again until you shut the car off and then restarted it and began driving, it does this in forward or reverse. I have had a 4 wheel brake job pads and rotars which helped the situation and was due anyway. I just had both front speed sensors replaced and the problem is far better than before. What the car does now is while your starting the car you place your foot on the brake, shift into driver/reverse it will engage slightly and release with in 3 feet if you dont put your foot on the brake while starting the car but then apply the brake before shifting into gear it does it in about 8 feet. This, is normal for the ABS doing its selfcheck is what the dealership told me which I dont doubt but my question is why am i feeling the ABS system go through its self check, if I were to trade this car in the dealer would tell me that something is wrong with the car because of this while at the same time if i were buying the car I would think something is wrong with it and want it repaired before purchase. Has anyone ran into this before, any suggestions??

I just get a vibration/buzzing brrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrr brr.. when the car first starts moving after starting it. Happens every time the car starts and goes into drive.

same thing.....Couldn't have said it any better:th_thumbsup-wink:

when my car fails the abs check the steering gets tight, and it feels like the brakes are holding the car back.

this happens once in a blue moon after starting the car and driving off. so i then shut it off, restart it. then put it gear and the brake will hold the car back it seems, i need to just gas it till it breaks free, then its all normal again.

most of the time it sounds like a cross of a metal rake dragging, or a crunching sound when the abs does its self check.

i got one more hub to change, hope it fixes this for me.

I appreciate all the input and feel better now. This has been happening to me for some time and does not affect the car, just irritating. I actually got more focused on it as some of the work I had done made the condition better. Thanks again
