• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

not that i'd buy one, or really anything in GM's lineup nowadays outside of the corvette

Your sig says you have owned at least three GM cars. Why the change of heart?

I think GM has some good deals compared to other manufacturers.

malibu nothing, shove it down the cruze's throat and match it to another getrag transmission and let's see what happens.

rico, it's been 4 actually, haven't ever owned anything but GM as a matter of fact. but they're line-up lately just... eh. nothing's attractive, nothing's comfortable, and nothing's fun to drive. i work at a GM dealership, so I get to drive just about everything they have, and just really don't like any of it. i'm scared to drive anything with a 3.6 after we've put timing chains in just about the whole fleet, so that eliminates the traverse/acadia and the impala. the sonic's and cruze's are pretty comfortable for they're market but you can't ever stop shifting. the 6-speed auto's are annoying and the clutch in the manuals feels like stepping on a slinky. the trucks are hideous and the interiors have gone backwards IMO. my dad's 04 sierra is much more comfortable. that leaves the camaro and corvette. i've had the opportunity to drive a bunch of RS's, and i wasn't nice. they responded pretty well, except for the manual one, but i can't see anything out of the car. the ZL1 was a good time though. and the Grand Sport vette i drove was an absolutely surreal experience. maybe it's just that i'm around them all day, or only get the broken ones, but i'm pretty down on the fleet lately. they're trying some new things with the 2013 malibu though, so we'll see

Do you know anything about the Chevy GT? the G8 replacement? You can only read so much online about it.

It's a G8, what's there to know?

L76, RWD, Auto...with bowties vs. arrowheads.

Also, times one trillion on the 3900 and the 3.6 motors...pile of craps, especially in that 45K+ Acadia Denali bullsh1t.

I am more concerned with with the interior. Anything with a bowtie has a cheapish plastic feeling interior, use the Trailblazer and Silverado SS as an example

I love these arguments. I think people forget power to weight ratio though..

LOL @ the "technology" argument. It all ends up pushing on a piston. 19th century "technology"

And boost does not equal efficiency. Efficiency depends more on flow, afr, power, etc. together.

Technically a V8 is a more "efficient" design for 4-stroke engines due to no negative torque throughout the full cycle. One piston only has to travel approx 90 deg before the next piston starts pushing. In a 4-cylinder, one piston on the power stroke has to travel a whole 180 deg before getting power from the next pistons power stroke.

Sorry I don't have references to show right now, but I have seen the studies which match common sense. You can find it yourself.

Oh, and HAI GUISE!

if technology didnt get more efficient then why do we have N/A 4 cyl engines pushing more hp than the N/A 3.8? lol
answer: its smaller yet more efficient.

Oh, and HAI GUISE!

Depends on the type of efficiency.

For power delivery, I entirely agree, V8 FTW.

For VE, that depends on everything else.

Oh and sup guy.

FYI, sadly this place hasn't improved much.

While I will argue all day on efficiency vs power with Nixon between V6s and V8s and NA vs Boost.... but He is right on this one.

Show me a NA 4 banger with any kind of good Tq numbers. Even if they make decent HP the torque is always WAY lower. That's where the boost comes in to help raise the torque up with the HP. That is also why most cars are using better technology to make V6s more efficient while making good hp/tq #'s
